Before my visit to Christchurch, I was invited to place a bid for a room upgrade. I would know when I checked in if my bid was successful. Am pleased to say that it was. The last time I visited Christchurch was two or three years before their tragic earthquakes, so I was interested to find out how much had recovered. Am pleased to say that there has been a great deal of recovery, with a fair amount still to be done. My room had great views of Cathedral square, with part of the ruined cathedral to one side. Sadly money ran out while rebuilding the cathedral, but the hopes are that work will start again in the near future. The hotel staff were most accommodating and friendly. Although I cannot single out one particular staff member, they all went out of their way to help me with my requests. Nothing was too much trouble for them,no matter how busy they were. This hotel is in the perfect location for a visitor to wander around the city, with everything within easy walking distance. Within two or three minutes by foot is the City Circle Tram terminus. If I find myself wanting to visit Christchurch again, this hotel would be my first choice, for however many nights I decided to stay.

We required an overnight stay before travelling home to Sydney and the Novotel Cathedral Square was perfectly located to enjoy a brief visit to Christchurch. We were able to check in early and it was also great to find out that we had been upgraded. Our KB room was quiet and the bed extremely comfortable. Hotel staff were very friendly, courteous and extremely helpful, also allowing a 12noon late check out. Thank you!

We booked Novotel for our last 2 nights stay in New Zealand. The check in process was pretty seamless and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful, his name was Jacy. The King Room that we booked was very spacious and very comfortable. It has bathtub, complete amenities such as ironboard and iron. They provided sofa as well. The bed was very comfy and the blanket was warm. We had a few comment on the room and the hotel. First the wall between rooms was quite thin, I could here neighbors talking, plugging in electronics, and a few steps. Also it was pretty hard to find the spot to park or stop because no clear sign that we can stop there considering the road looked exactly like sidewalk. It only said unloading area but we were not sure if we could stop there or park our car there for the check in. Also they had no free parking, we had to pay for $25 for 24 hours or $35 if we wished to use valet. We chose valet option because we only needed 1 day parking and only $10 difference. Overall I would suggest for tourists to stay here. Its pretty close to the mall, cafes, riverside market, so that you dont need to pay for uber to go anywhere. Also it was a pleasant stay at the hotel itself.
