I called when we were in Australia to ask for heaters to be put in the room as I get sick from heat pumps. When we arrived, this hadn't happened but Irina who was on reception, went and found two heaters for us - we were so so grateful as this was late in the evening when we flew in from Australia. We were so warm and comfortable in our apartment, while my husband was preparing and having a medical procedure in Christchurch. Overall, a very positive experience

We were very disappointed to find the room in dire need of attention. There was so much damage on the walls, where pictures had hung, mirrors had been swapped out, and poor quality patchwork carried out. Additionally, a lot of scuffing of the walls. The bathroom was also very tired, and in places, extremely dusty. We went for a short walk around the property, only to be approached by a manager to tell us we couldn’t be out there. No signs to say this anywhere, instead we just got chased down and told to leave. Why have such a picturesque set up with pathways, and no signage, if you don’t want people walking around? It’s not much fun just being confined to our beaten up room. This place has massive potential, but has gone hugely downhill since our last stay a few years ago. We do not feel inclined to come back, unfortunately. The condition of the rooms in the ibis Christchurch are far better, despite the lower price point and target clientele, so I would suggest this as a reasonable alternative to Peppers Clearwater.
