Appalling 07:00 Hours Arrival Experience From Staff Disruption After Our Night Flight Back To the UK

What an appalling experience. Booked a room with additional late departure as only flying back into the UK at 06:30. Arrived and checked in at 07:00 and confirmed with reception our checkout time was 16:00 (late departure which we'd pre booked allowing us to get 6 hours of snoozing before returing home after a 9 hour night flight. Finally got into our room just before 08:00 and in to bed with the "Do Not Disturb" on the door and expecting to get 6 hours of sleep as a minimum. Well that didn't happen ! Just after 09:00 came loud knocking on the door and attempts to open the door from the cleaning staff. Luckily having locked the door internally they didn't get in. Was this a one off No it wasn't. They continued to try every 30-40 minutes until midday when we just decided to get up and leave still over tired from our journey but it was clear we weren't going to get any form of quality sleep with the disruptive knocking on the door. On leaving we complained to reception but they just shrugged it off with the sorry and an apology claiming the couldn't see our late departure booking ! Hmm it was there at 07:00 and was clearly on our booking email, you'd think they would pass that on to the cleaning staff, but no they don't seem to, nor read a "Do Not Disturb" door handle sign. Over all experience 0/ 10. Not Happy At All.

Overall our stay was good but by being more organised at check-in, I would’ve rated it 10/10. The issue was, we, along we numerous others, had obviously arrived a few minutes before the 3pm check-in time and were told to wait, which I totally understand and accept. However, at 3pm, and by now with around 20 people waiting in the reception area and queues forming, the staff members began to appear from the office behind reception, but not to start the check-in, instead to ‘start up’ their laptops needed and then arrange the right equipment/room cards to issue etc. Even though it was gone 3pm by now, the staff did not seem in a hurry to get things sorted, bearing in mind they had an audience of all the guests stood in reception! This then continued for about 10 more minutes before the first guest could finally be checked in. So a really simple and obvious fix would surely be to get everything ready before 3pm!! (Or publicise guest check in starts at 3.15pm as staff need 15mins to get things ready). Otherwise it was a nice stay, so come on Ibis, sort out the check-in and you’ll have much happier guests! :)
