Jucka82 Families - TripAdvisor review

The pool is great, the breakfast is monotonous, the bed is very loud and of poor quality. Overall it was good, I would stay here again. Beautiful view

Unhelpful staff with no customer service and hotel located way too far to explore the Amalfi coast

CM4London Families - TripAdvisor review

Hi , im a long standing Accor member who has recently booked a week stay at Novotel Salerno Est. Soon after i booked i realised that the reviews of the staff and services at the hotel werenot at all good and several other customers complained about the customer service at the hotel. Furthermore ,it wasnt actually in Salerno but rather a. 20 min drive away from the boats or town centre there, and we werw fkying out of Rome and the location of the hotel would be extremely difficult to make it back in time for our flight from Rome as it wasnt actually as close as I expected . Since around 2/3 weeks before we were due to leave home , I called the hotel and Accor and I sent several emails to hotel to ask if at all possible to cancel and refund the last 2 nights of our stay and leave the first 4 nights as we booked it, just to make our journey back home easier. The Accor customer services staff told me that only the hotel manager could do issue the refund, and they even called the hotel staff to explain this , however the hotel staff would copy and paste a generic message over and over again and totally refused to allow me to speak to the manager . Ho , the staff were completely inflexible and not at all considerate . Eventually 20 emails later they still refused . On arrival at the hotel , i asked if i could please speak to the manager as it had been impossible for the last 2 /3 weeks despite me calling or emailing almost every day . They said that they would give him the message , hence i waited in the room for approx 4-5 hours until he was available . Upon meeting him , he explained that there. Was no way for him to refund me for the night stay if i wanted to cancel my stay , but that as a “ gift to ne “ he would allow my family to have dinner for free one night, and that i could take that whether or not i wished to cancel the last night as this gesture was from him and it was totally separate from the duration of my stay. I graciously agreed to the kind gesture . However , on our last night, when we went to the restuarant for dinner , the gentleman at the bar and restaurant , rolled his eyes at the thought of a free meal and told us that there was no such thing and as we didnt cancel our last reservation that offer lapsed . Again the reception lady insisted that it was not allowed , and she texted her line manager and refused blankly to wven try to contact the manager and she also refused to tell me his name . I notice that nobody in this hotel shares their names or wears name badges , probably because of the bad customer service and complaints. So we were denied the only goodwill polite gesture offered to us , and the reception and bar staff were extremley rude and insulting towards us for even suggesting it . The staff here will not even try go do anything for their guests and they are extremely rude and just full of lies. It has totally ruined our trip to the Amalfi coast for a week for me , my husband and my son who is 5 years old , and he had to go starving until we found a restaurant in salerno which isnt really that close by . The position of the hotel makes it realky difficult to explore the amalfi coast as its a 20 minndrive to Salerno and the area surrounding the hotel appears dodgy and not at all nice with no options for food outside the restaurant which was completely empty on the day we attempted to dine there and it had limited options and was overpriced with no ambience whatsoever. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone as it was a total waste of our time and money due to ny terrible experience with the staff. Also , when i contacted to hotel after my stay , the hotel manager just completely lied about the goodwill gesture he had promised me and that raises a serious ethical issue for the management and their team .

Dear Ms. CM4London, thank you very much for writing to us. As discussed in several emails and also in person, I confirmed to you that she would be able to take advantage of a dinner with her family the moment she decided to leave one or two days in advance, as she had communicated several times both at the hotel and in writing. The moment she decided to take advantage of the entire paid stay, thus no longer leaving early, the dinner offer lapsed. My staff is not at fault that you decided to change your plans. We are sorry that you had to look for a restaurant during the evening, but the staff did not deny you dinner at the hotel at your expense. We work hard to provide an exceptional guest experience and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Sincerely,

A little vacation before our vacation!

We were using Salerno as a good stopping off spot before we visited where our families were from. It was a beautiful view, wonderful pizza place across the street and everyone working at the hotel was very nice and helpful. We accidentally left our coats and had to pick them up several days later. Everyone couldn't have been nicer. The room was clean and comfortable.

The breakfast was very poor, lacking vegetables and every day there was the same thing. The location was far from all the important attractions to visit, and the area around the hotel was industrial and militarized. Despite the booking stating that the beach was only 150m away, it was not accessible. I asked for two things at the reception but they didn't help us ( One of the things we wished for was the ability to pay for the buffet dinner and take it at the hotel because we had small babies. However, they said it was not possible unless it was reserved in advance. ) The playground area only had one slide toy, with no seating available for parents to use while their children played.
