The hotel itself was nice and clean, the rooms were a decent size and the bathrooms were also a good size. Shower and bath was good. The swimming pool was good. About 15/20 mins walk to the beach, some restaurants nearby. About a 25 min walk in to the main town area However, the hotel is located in front of the outdoor night club, with superb loudly music and spot light, which made our stay not really good.

We had a wonderful three night stay at The Novotel, Halong Bay. The staff were very attentive and the buffet breakfast and hot pot evening meal very good. When we arrived our safe would not lock but after a few visits by maintenance to try and fix it we were given a replacement safe. Reception booked a Halong Bay Cruise with Ambassador Cruises for us and it far exceeded our expectations. This was the highlight of our visit. A big thank you to Thuy who answered any of our questions with a smile and made me beautiful Vietnamese coffee at breakfast. The only downside and it must be stressed this is the not the fault of the hotel, is the loud music coming from the the beachfront in the evening/night. We were fortunate that our room was quiet. We had a most enjoyable stay.

We arrived this morning after a wonderful cruise round ha long bay, for a two night stay. Check in was efficient and welcoming. We were with my daughter, husband and 2 grand daughters. The family room (a suite) was on 11th floor and the view amazing. Double bed and 2 single for the children. We were so very pleased! HOWEVER at nightfall, after a lovely family swim, the music started!! There is an open air club/venue call it whatever, on the beach and the level of music was unbearable - loud, thumping and reverberating around the room, causing the windows to actually vibrate!!! We complained and got moved to another room at the back of the hotel. We still needed to wear earplugs to sleep (currently at the time of writing in bed awake) but they do cut out most of the sound. I felt sorry for the Hotel as they are aware of the issue and have tried to do something about it to no avail. It must affect lots of hotels in the vicinity, not just the Novotel. We were informed that it continues until 3am in the morning!! The resort itself seems quite low on tourist numbers and this type of thing will put people off further - there are other reviews also complaining of this very thing, word soon gets around on social media and this is not suitable for families or older couples. A real shame and perhaps the local government needs to consider the effect that this has on tourism - is it appropriate for this resort and the type of people who would visit??

We arrived at Novotel Ha Long bay and the staff were friendly and efficient checking us in. As we are Accor plus members they gave us an upgrade and a welcome fruit basket. When we got to the room it was dated but clean and the view overlooked the foreshore. What we should have taken note of is why there were ear plugs beside the bed. Ever night from dark till around 1-2am there is an open air night club across the road pumping out extremely load music and spotlights directed at hotel so we had to wedge a towel in the balcony door to stop it rattling and muffle some of the noise. Even then it was still so loud that the building (because of its curved shape is a receiver) is constantly reverberating. Spoke to the staff the next morning and they said there was nothing they could do apart from move us to the mountain view side of the building if we wished. The breakfast was included in our package and was typical of Novotel buffet breakfasts but bakery items were less than average, hot options were OK but limited. Had lunch and also coffee at hotel and it was quite good. Following our 2nd night of a 4 night stay, we decided to forfeit any money paid and leave and went to another Accor property in Hanoi instead.
