My uncle and I came To Halong Bay for two nights on 13/14 February. We stayed at the lovely Novotel Halong Bay. Unfortunately, my uncle became ill and had to go to Bai Chay hospital for six days .The staff at the hotel were amazing (and went above and beyond basic human kindness) to look after me and him. The manager (Thu Bui) was so supportive and generous. She not only came to the hospital with me to translate but brought me back when he was being discharged. I have never known someone selfless and amazing. All the staff were supportive and thoughtful. I wish I could give them more stars.

I did stay for about a week at Novotel Ha Long Bay. My feedback: I’m totally satisfied about the entire hotel staff. They are well trained and acting always in a very helpful and professional way. (e.g. support for my transfer to Hanoi) At this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude to Mrs Ngan and Mrs Thu for their friendly help during my stay at Ha Long Bay. About the hotel building: the construction is not from the newest generation, however the rooms are well maintained and in good shape.

Way below Accor’s standards, very poor experience

The hotel is not well managed from the time I called them (staff just said Allo instead of presenting Novotel Ha Long Bay) to the checkout. Very poor english, they are not trained to handle customers requests. The bed is not comfortable at all even it is executive suite, very old mattress and hard pillows, I requested a topper and 2 extras, I only got the topper. Even I checkin on the app, room was not ready with complementary sweet delicatessen. I got a call, the called the wrong room at 8.30pm. We got woke up 3-5 times from 6AM because of guests or because of housekeeping staff using loud talky walky… Breakfast not good, cooking are not well executed (a soft boil egg supposed to be 4mn cooked is actually hard boiled) chef is rude. Checkout the staff did even try to speak english, were avoiding eye contact. Wont come back

Upon check in, the bellman just stood at the door and watched us unloaded our heavy luggages, never attempted or offered to help. When mentioned to the desk clerk, her excuse was, he is new (don’t the managements tell him what his job entailed?). The room was okay minus crumbs on the sofa. However the bath towels took the cakes as they were wormed out with holes. This would be the worst experience we encountered on our Vietnam trip.

Decent stay option with a great bay view

We had won a 2 nights stay voucher for a bay view room of this hotel. My husband and I stayed here in July. This hotel is at a walking distance from the beach and the main area with all the restaurants. This is an old hotel and can do better with some renovation. The hotel has a big lobby decorated with Vietnamese style huge lanterns and artefacts. The room we stayed in was clean and had an attached balcony overlooking the bay. The view was spectacular and was the highlight of our stay. The room had a super-king sized bed and a couch because of which the room looked congested and there was hardly any walking space. The breakfast buffet was so-so, sub-par with Novotel standard. They could improve the quality of the western food options (may be, also add some more items) and also ensure that the food is hot. They also have a pool though we did not use it. The staffs were cheerful and friendly. Overall, our stay was comfortable.
