TERRIBLE SAFETY. Access cards given out for our room. Was woken at 00h25 by a stranger. Hotel staff was rude about it.

Stayed at the Ibis budget Sheffield Arena from 15/09/2024 - 17/09/2024. My wife was going to come alone, however I'm extremely grateful I came with her. At 00h25 another guest opened the door to our hotel room. The door was locked from the inside but could still be opened from the outside if an access card was presented. I went down to the concierge (Jurgen) who said that he made the access card for our room and had given it to a new guest. He remarked that this was not his fault but rather the person working on the shift before him. He reports having knowledge that we were in room 125, but had made a new card for the new guest. My access card no longer worked for the room. We did not receive an apology from the concierge nor any sort of acknowledgement that a mistake was made and that our safety was put at risk.

One staff member was particularly helpful and he moved his car so we could park as I’m disabled! Rooms are very small but adequate for one night, the beds are comfy but needed more pillows. Spotlessly clean and tidy, one lift so prepare to wait esp if your on floors 3 and 4 as the lift is very small aswell. Great location to the arena literally a 4 minute walk to the arena and food places. Breakfast was good for a take away brekkie, continental and toast but fruit yogurts and pastries which were lovely. parking is very limited if it’s an arena day so arrive early or plan to park on the ice rink next door. Was a little expensive for the room etc but it was a popular night with arena event. Would recommend if you are going to the arena but it’s very very basic so one night is sufficient.

Arrived early to get a parking space or wouldn’t have been one. Greeted by friendly reception staff and check in was a quick process. Room was tiny, no hairdryer available in room or at reception, no kettle or tea and coffee making facilities yet paid nearly double compared to other budget hotels. Stayed as this was closest to Arena for friend with joint difficulties. Extra pillows might also be a benefit. Room climate control was very good as was the blackout blinds and room was quiet too.
