Overall a poor experience. The room was not very clean and shabby. The shower had other guests hair in it. We were woken a number of times by other guests loudly arriving back through the night. The starwell stank of cigarettes. Break fast was ridiculous for the £12 price! There was nothing to eat! However the staff were cheerful and pleasant.

We were looking for a cheap and cheerful place to sleep after a concert in Birmingham city centre and this Ibis Budget was a good location away. We were just initially shocked because of all the marks on the wall and what looked like fire damage or soot(?) on the floor. The room seemed clean and it has the basics you would need like hooks, hangers, sink and shower. We would have been completely happy if not for the hair under the pillow and no bin provided. Oh and the hairs up high on the shower walls... :( I understand you can't take pictures of every room, but this one did look different to the pictures. Otherwise, there was a good buzz in the reception, kind staff, and the area felt safe. At night, the bins are left out the front entrance and so we were startled by rats in the bushes and pavement coming back at 11 pm.

Experience was good. Staff were incredibly friendly and check in and out was quick & efficient. Food available was good and priced fairly. The room was nice and the bed and sheets were good. The inclusion of providing towels without having to ask was excellent. All facilities worked well. The only improvements i can suggest is to ensure enough hand soap is provided prior to entering the room for the first time, whilst also ensuring all hotel cards work well. Unfortunately 2 of the cards didn’t work and had to ask to get them replaced to get into the room. Other then that, excellent service and a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Will be staying again in the future.

All the staff (reception, housekeeping) at Ibis Budget Birmingham are very friendly and for this 10/10. However in my room the TV remote did not work and looked dirty, the cleaniness of the tv was not good. There were water stains on the tv screen. The shower had a strange smell and there were very visible dirt/scuff marks on the walls that should be cleaned. The elevators at this location also very slow.

Great Staff, good for short stays

I stayed one night, the price was good for a fairly centrally located hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The only problem was thay one lift was out of action which meant the the social distancing guideline of one person in the lift was not followed and most people did not wear masks. A more prominent notice might have helped.

From the very get go the staff are awesome! They simply couldn’t do enough for me! However the hotel and room live up to the “Budget” name which isn’t entirely a bad thing, except what would’ve been impressive is if the hotel offered an above budget experience. This would need to be reflected firstly in the rooms as they are reasonable but stark and resembled what I imagine a prison cell might look like, the flush takes 5 attempts and they were thin on the ground in hand and body wash and due to the unprecedented times, the replenishing of such as well as clean towels and a bed linen change is a complexed matter and didn’t happen during my weeks stay. Anyone staying here must be worked that the walls are paper thin so you can hear “everything!” Unfortunately for me having being moved from one room due to a weak toilet flush to a room opposite the lift which had the exact same issue, I suffered a lot of noise pollution that would occur at any time of the day or night. I found one friendly security guard that didn’t put the fear of God in me or make me feel like I was under some type of Big Brother surveillance-this made me feel somewhat safe but also on edge-in some ways from speaking to a few people, I understand that the hotel attracts a very diverse set of people so perhaps the weird, intensive security guards are necessary! The iron room is okay but I don’t know what would happen should 8 guests need to use the iron, do we line up and psych out the person ironing in the hole that they’d hurry up and thus bring the queue down? One of the great thing was the ability to buy a variety of necessities and snacks from their tuck shop-(food and drink refrigerated). The fact that most items were over-priced was a disappointment but when that One O Clock in the morning craving takes a hold-rationale goes out the window and your financial sensibility is compromised! On to the breakfast which for me consisted of a croissant and toast with Jam and Bread, the only liquid I recall at that time of the morning was orange juice so perhaps they could look into more variety as the open meats screamed Covid danger, then again so did the open croissants. Fortunately I’m Covid negative! But maybe a less carb central breakfast might just do the trick! The only other thing worth pointing out is the charge on your keycard to gain access to your room is weak so to spare you the time of having to come all the way back down to reception, just charge it religiously on the way in. Overall, a cute stay but it was exactly what it was!

We had just settled down to bed and fallen asleep when a group of rowdy guests woke us up, this happened several times, we seemed to be on a floor where everyone knew each other and seemed to think it was fine, for £53 a night I found it to be a very unsatisfactory experience and won't be returning, I would get better value at the nearby Holiday Inn and have a much nicer stay

The location of the hotel is ideal for my purposes and the staff were fantastic as always, even fastening my waistcoat at the rear when asked! The bed was comfortable and the shower was clean. My only issue was with certain other guests on my floor who were noisy in the corridor outside my room in the early hours of the morning. I'm aware that it is not easy for the staff to deal with such incidents but maybe a prominent notice requesting guests to respect others after midnight could make a difference.

Your staff are always friendly and helpful and I never have to wait for anything, you also provide very good value for money. The only problem I almost always have is getting my keys to work, I always ask for 2 to try to double my chances of getting in but far too often have to either get them reprogrammed or be let into my room, if it was not for this I would give you a 10 as opposed to a 9

IBIS is normaly my go to hotel, its all pretty much the same service i get which ever i IBIS, the only difference is that, i didnt get welcome drink this time. Normaly in the check in, i get welcome drink, as i book my reservation thru all accor.com and i do have silver account. Thats doesnt really bother me much really. Overall it was good stay.

A very bad stay and had to called the police

My key card was took off the system. My room wasn't cleaned the next day or no new toilet rolls, towels or soap. Staff didn't want to take my complaint and was moody that I wanted to place a complaint and when I was dealing with the staff member about my complaint the security guard poke his nose in and was telling the staff member not to take my complaint and the security guard verbally abused and threatened me and told me if I didn't stop putting my complaint in and go back to my room he would throw me out of the hotel even though I wasn't doing anything wrong. He kept being abuse to me that the staff member told him to shut his mouth. The security guard wasn't wearing his licence and when I asked to see his licence he told me to shut my mouth and not to speak to him. I was so frightened thar I couldn't go down for breakfast in the morning. I have informed the police about him and they are looking into it.

I stayed one night to attend a birthday party just down the road. So location was a key motivation. At £109 I would not describe it as a budget option, but it is certainly value for money this close to the centre of Birmingham. My room was basic, but spotlessly clean. I did not experience any problems with noisy guests in the corridors at night, as reported by others. I did repeatedly have problems with the key card. Every time staff was polite, helpful and efficient.

Had to make my own bed!

I got a room with two beds to share with a friend. I wanted a twin but there were none available so I chose a room with a double bed and a bunk bed so that we could have a bed each. When we got to the room, we found only one bed made up and just some bedding placed on the bunk. I asked at reception if someone could make my bed and they said no! So I had to make it myself, which was not easy due to the height and restricted space up there. I also found it difficult to get in and out of the bed because the gap for the ladder was too narrow for my bum (I’m fairly slim btw).

We stayed for 1 night whilst going to a concert at the Birmingham arena, the hotel was ideally located, with a 20 minute walk to the venue. Our room was clean, quiet and nicely decorated, we were overlooking the carpark, the breakfast buffet was good although it would have been nice to have tea and coffee facilities in our room, but there was the option of buying it from the reception instead. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
