I was called while asleep at night because the restaurant couldn't process my bill. The waiter woke me up, came up and knocked on my door at 11.00 PM with payment terminal because he wasn't able to process things on my room!!! The next morning I went to the gym and started to run on treadmill which stopped suddenly after few minutes ... out of order I went to the breakfast and paid immediately (remember went wrong the day before) but I didn't get my receipt as I thought I would get my final bill at the lobby when checking out. BUT checking out, I was told they couldn't put any of my restaurant's bill on my final invoice !!! I think everything went wrong as my check-in wasn't executed properly. I felt really upset, even more when nobody at the lobby seemed to care. They were all busy on papers and computers while no other customers and not willing to help ...

The quality expected from a Novotel, with a very extensive (and busy!) breakfast and a nice rooftop bar with small pool. The views from the higher floors are great! Bus/metro to the center. Some sights within walking distance (e.g. Sagrada Familia)

I booked this hotel in August 2024. I booked a room which should be, according to the description, "Fully equipped, 258 sq. ft. rooms. Queen-size bed, sofa, WiFi, minibar, 55" smart TV, wood floor, free coffee and tea. The perfect choice for work or leisure. Maximum 2 guests." No sofa, very stark room, no decorations. Mini bar was empty. Some tea and coffee, no milk. No view, just the wall of another building. The bathroom was for disabled use, so rails on the toilet and a walk in shower. How anyone under 6 feet tall could reach the rather pathetic shower I don't know, so for disabled people that would prove very difficult. There was only one toilet roll, which had maybe half the number of sheets of a new roll. The pillows on the bed were old and folded over. When I complained, I was told that the hotel was fully booked and that nothing could be done unless I swapped with my sister who was also staying in this hotel. The breakfast area was understaffed and absolute chaos. I cleared and wiped our table as there was no one else to help. No milk for tea or cereal. Slow coffee machine which made for long queues and a toaster that provided nothing other than warm bread. This was my husbands 60th birthday, we had been on a cruise which finished in Barcelona and this stay took the shine of what was a lovely few days at sea. Ivan on reception was nice and did send a small cheesecake to our room as a birthday present. Unfortunately, this did not make up for or disappointment.

We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced with your room. While we have recently renewed the bedding across our rooms just two months ago, we fully understand that comfort is subjective and can vary from one guest to another. Regarding the minibar, we would like to clarify that in our standard rooms, a complimentary bottle of water is provided upon arrival. We are sorry that this was missing during your stay, and we will ensure our housekeeping team is more vigilant moving forward. We also regret that you were not informed in advance about the bathroom being an accessible (PMR) facility. We understand that this may not have been suitable for your needs, and we are reviewing our room assignment procedures to avoid similar situations in the future. As for breakfast, we are aware of the challenges during peak times and are already taking steps to reinforce our team and improve the performance of our coffee and toaster machines. We’re pleased to hear that Ivan at reception was able to offer a small gesture for your husband’s birthday. However, we understand that this was not enough to make up for the overall disappointment. We truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again under better circumstances. It was quite surprising to be forced to choose the timing of the breakfast. I believe that probably Platinum status of the client could potentially grant the opportunity to come any time to get a breakfast. Another surprising point was regarding the late check-out: the possibility to understand whether we have the opportunity to have the late check-out was at the same day of the check-out only (and not before)! Moreover, at first we were told that the hotel is full, but they could extend our stay till 2pm for free and till 5pm for extra 50€. If I compare this to our previous experience in Madrid Novotel (no issue to have the late checkout as complimentary and have it agreed during the first days).

Novotel is not 4 stars, looks like ibis budget is better offer. Rooms are old-school; the plaster from tiles is falling in shower; no toilet brush; squeky toilet door, that is hard to open; no tea spoons for all days, except last one.
