This hotel was the only hotel that we would not recommend from our UK visit. The good: The location is central. You can easily walk to the train station, shops and restaurants. However, car service drivers cannot pick you up at the hotel front door as the lanes are for buses/marked taxis only apparently. We had to walk a few blocks to meet our airport car service. The room was fairly clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. The not so great: The elevator was concerning…the control panel was loose and there was a gap where you could see the wires behind the control panel. We reported this to the front desk. The toilet and shower are in separate spaces and there is no sink to wash your hands in the room with the toilet. This may be a common configuration in UK hotels, but we found it very inconvenient. The side table beside the bed was broken (sloping on an angle) so you could not put anything on the bedside table as it would fall on the floor. But really the main reason that we are giving a negative review is the hotel breakfast. We do not feel it was value for money at all. When we arrived to the dining area, we waited quite awhile for someone to check us in. Finally, a woman from the check-in desk came over and verified that we had paid for breakfast and told us we could find a table. There were only a few clean tables. Most of the tables had not been cleared from previous diners. There were no clean juice glasses at the buffet. We asked one hotel employee who walked by us at the buffet (she had a name tag) and she told us we had to ask someone who worked in the dining room. Someone came out of the kitchen, and we asked them. They nodded and disappeared. A few minutes later a third person came out of the kitchen, and we asked again, and they went and got a tray of glasses. I had to do the same thing for coffee cups, but I only had to ask once. The selection was limited, and food was not replenished. Jam containers were empty. We asked for more jam, but nobody filled up the containers. It was the worst breakfast experience we had throughout our stay in the UK. We would not recommend this hotel. In our opinion it was not value for money.

Stayed for one night while dropping my daughter at university. The hotel was well located, with easy access to the station, bus services, shopping and restaurants. Everything was good except our check-in experience where due to the lack of staff and one member on duty spending time on convincing a customer to join the Accor loyalty programme rather than attending to other customers, we stood around for more than 15 minutes until another staff member arrived.

Very impressed. So clean and comfortable. The location of this hotel is perfect if you are looking to stay central for a very fair price. The staff were very professional and helpful. My only regret is not getting staff names to mention them here but collectively they all went above and beyond. We didn't get the chance to use the pool but has a sneak peak and was impressed by the set up. Definitely worth the money!!
