Sofitel Munich Bayerpost 5 stars

We arrived early and were greeted with a very kind, courteous, and efficient receptionist who quickly delt with our reservation. The room was clean and of a good standard though the windows don’t open for fresh air. The air conditioning is good. Breakfast was excellent and the health club very good and not busy. We did not eat in the other restaurant. Location is excellent and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Good stay, very helpful staff, light and airy and well located. Breakfast room busy and could do with being larger.

These are some of the most comfortable beds I’ve experienced in a hotel, and the hotel itself is clean and modern, in a good location and staffed with very polite people who seem to enjoy where they work. However, breakfast is terribly overpriced (€45) for what you get and the nearest coffee spot is in the train station which is always busy, smelly and frankly not a good option. The food in the hotel’s one restaurant (French) is good but not remarkable. This hotel is literally next door to the main train station so very convenient by rail, and still manages to be mostly quiet during the sleeping hours.

We were exhausted from a 6-hour drive from Italy with our toddler. My wife booked the hotel a few hours before we arrived. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two staff members who began unloading our luggage and even unbuckled the little one from her car seat. As I was checking in, they grabbed our bags and had them up to our room within minutes. The gentlemen at the front desk were extremely professional, helpful, and made best friends with our little 2-year-old by offering some treats and a quick game of peak-a-boo. The hotel was clean, inviting, and had everything we needed to unwind. We were only able to stay for one night, but we were able to leave our car for a few extra hours, and when we picked it up, all of our luggage had already been loaded for us. Extra bedding for our toddler bed, water on the nightstands when we came back from exploring the city, and anticipated needs from the staff all the way through. 5 stars.

Our checkin wasn’t great. We extended our stay via Expedia but the property didn’t have record of us arriving. The reception staff tried to assist and we were given a drink voucher for the inconvenience. Liked the gesture. The food, particularly the breakfast was the only good thing about this property. The staff are generally unfriendly. The room we had was run down, smelled mouldy. There was black mould in the shower grout, the shower flooded - drainage appeared to be poor. I had allergy like symptoms when in the room but I cannot say if this was the room itself that caused it for sure. The location is right next to the central station and while convenient, has all sorts of dodgy people around. We didn’t feel safe. We’ve stayed in different Sofitels in the past and this was the worst so far. And no, we prefer not to be Accor members.
