I'm writing about serious failings during my recent stay. I booked **3 nights, 2 twin rooms**. Both rooms faced the street with heavy tramway noise. As an **Accor Gold member**, I asked to change sides, move floors, or be upgraded. The duty manager refused, claiming the hotel was full and that twin rooms only existed on the first floor. **Both claims were false** — I could see plenty of availability online across nearly all categories, and the next day another manager admitted I had been given wrong information and moved us to the third floor. On a separate booking for a fourth night, I asked for a third room near my others and was again told the hotel was full. Again false, as online availability clearly showed. An upgrade was only granted after I pushed back repeatedly. This is unacceptable: repeated false information from staff, incompetent room management, and a complete disregard for my Gold status. One manager handled things properly; the rest of the experience was well below the standard Accor claims to offer loyal members.

Despite reclamation, the air con was useless for the full duration. No refrigerador in room - had to have the window open at night, construction noise in the morning. Breakfast buffet: 7 min eggs promised but twice runny (< 3 min). Cleaning less than acceptable (hair on floor, etc)

Room was clean but showed a few stain marks, not the fault of the hotel. The bathroom door could do with a hangar. The air conditioning is very poor. Won't go below 18°c and when it's hot, it's uncomfortable. The TV could do with English speaking channels. The breakfast was amazing. Staff excellent also. If you opt for 2 single beds, takes away room.

We were very disappointed with our stay. The room was old, dirty and uncomfortable. The shower head sprayed water outside of the shower, the kettle and tabletops were dusty and dirty. We got two single bed covers even though we had a room with a double bed. Really lowered my opinion of Mercure hotels.
