A serious service failure involving children's health and safety

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

Trail40419019622 TripAdvisor review

I experienced a serious incident at this hotel that directly threatened my child's health. During my stay, a cleaning staff member mistakenly left a paper bag containing my child's essential medications in my room. As a result, my child's condition worsened, and we had to go to the emergency room. The hotel failed to provide any explanation or assistance in retrieving the items. Instead, they attempted to shirk responsibility, claiming that "these are not prescription drugs and are easily available," and even told me to "call the police." The hotel refused to provide an incident report or a written analysis of the surveillance footage (not the original footage) without any justifiable reason. Both of these are standard practices for international hotel chains and are entirely reasonable from a guest safety and legal perspective, especially in the event of a guest safety incident. Even more unacceptable is the complete silence from the general manager and Accor's customer service department in the face of complaints, offering no response whatsoever. This is not a simple case of lost items, but a serious service failure involving a child's health and safety. On the same day, another male guest also had an argument with hotel staff over lost items, suggesting this may not be an isolated incident. Throughout a day of communication, not a single hotel staff member expressed concern for my child's health. As a mother, I am extremely disappointed and have serious concerns about the hotel's internal management standards. As a four-star hotel, I expect its operational management, accountability mechanisms, and communication efficiency to be higher. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Really disappointing reception

TripAdvisor rating 3.0/5

NicoleC5903 TripAdvisor review

We were very disappointed with the reception. My colleague arrived before me, as she had travelled up from northern england on the train. I flew in from Basel, and due unforseen circustances was flown to prestwick, as edinburgh airport was closed, which meant i arrived a lot later. Because the booking was in my name, they refused to let my colleague into the room unless she paid, even though I sent her the details. The guy on reception was rather intimidating and brusk, and made my colleague wait in the lobby for a few hours till I arrived. Very disappointing. Wonder if she would have been treated the same way if she had been a man. a man.
