We had booked into a two bed room as we were two adults. When we arrived, the sofa bed was not made up. There were not enough towels. We asked at reception and they told us we would need to make up the bed ourselves and dropped the bed linen to the room. The reception staff were somewhat unhelpful. On check out, the receptionist was unhelpful when I asked for a full receipt. Insisting I had been given one on arrival. I hadn't.

As a gold member and all the nights I am spending lately in Accor hotel I was expecting to have at least the same good standard I got in other Mercure, Sofitel and Novotel hotel. I was last week in a sofitel in Shanghai and got as a gold member a room upgrade two free drinks and a late departure offer. At Mechelen Novotel, no upgrade, No free drink and the TV was not working in my room. The room was confortable and clean this why I rated 7 and not 2

The hotel was ideally located and it was clean and tidy, however there were some 'odd' things that didn't make my stay as enjoyable. I arrived on a Sunday and was told the bar was closed and so I couldn't get my welcome drink until the following evening. The next evening I was told the bar was closed because of a system upgrade.

Old fashioned furniture, no hooks in the bathroom, nothing to properly hang your used towel out, no socket in the bathroom to charge. The WiFi wasn’t working the first day, took me multiple phone calls to actually reach the reception to order room service. Half of the menu was not available.
