Whenever I visit Manchester, I try to stay here or the Novotel next door. It is consistently good. I like the underground car park. I was ob business with a group of colleagues and enjoyed pizza and beers in the bar later in the evening. Travellers should note that the entire business seems to be run on IPhones. It helps if you have your booking confirmation displayed on your device when you check in.

Had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at the ibis 96 portland street manchester, location is very central and well located, the hotel team,nicole and staff are what made this place so impressed and made you feel good .Need to specially mention that they got some very friendly, helpful and professional staff here, Assed, Jennifer and Nicole were standing out brilliantly, they were so so friendly, kind, hospitable and went to the extra miles for us! Can't wait to come back again. This has to be one of the best ibis hotel in uk and I highly recommend to all.

Location wise - walking distance to Piccadilly station and lots of restaurants/coffee shops nearby. However, the road it's on is rather busy all through the night and the windows do nothing to keep the noise out. So if you're a light sleeper you will constantly wake up throughout the night. The air con unit in my room was faulty - someone had shoved a load of tissue paper to try to soak up a leak but the water constantly dripped from the unit every few seconds like clockwork - which again was a another noise to try and drown out. Not to mention that the carpet below was sodden. Apart from those issues, the shower was nice and warm, the bed was comfy and the bar was reasonably priced. If they sorted the noise & faulty aircon I would consider in future but for now I won't be returning.

Overall the room met my needs however two this that should be improved 1. x1 iron for the whole hotel that is set on a specific floor was not practical, nor were the instructions on use clear. A simple solution of being able to borrow an iron and board (available in quantity) and return it would be more sensible. 2. The sink in the bathroom did not drain properly so even brushing teeth was difficult as the water kept returning what you spat out - gross! Room 420.

The night front desk staff guy I forgot his name maybe James? Dunno but he was very helpful ,I was stuck in Manchester with no way of getting home and had tried at various other hotels in the city centre but as I did not have photo id they would not let me stay and were very dismissive to me. Tried in the ibis and explained my problem and the guy on front desk sorted it all out for me thanks mate 👍 great stay nice shower 🚿 nice bed I ate out and had fun
