We have stayed here several times and find the rooms comfortable and the hotel well located. This time, 2 things disappointed me: The spider webs all over the windows and doors in the poorly maintained gym. The rower was broken, there was a dumbell missing, the floor had not been vacuumed under the weights and the spider webs were rampant. (I even took photos) You offer free water refills at the bar but when we arrived at the bar it was all closed off. I actually pushed past the barriers and helped myself to water but it felt like I was trespassing when in fact I had been invited to utilise the water service. Surely you should make it more accessible during unstaffed hours. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and well appointed.

Nice location and good service except for the fire alarms going on for 2 days of our stay..

Novotel Canberra is very well located, right in the heart of Civic and close to shops, restaurants and public transport. The price was quite cheap, which helped offset some of the downsides, but the hotel doesn’t really match its 4-star rating. Overall, it feels closer to a 3-star Ibis-style hotel than a true Novotel. The property feels outdated, and the room layout is awkward, with the wash basin located outside the bathroom, which isn’t ideal. The biggest downside was noise from the west-facing side, particularly from buses outside with engines running continuously. The noise meant we couldn’t keep the balcony door open at all, which affected comfort. On the positive side, the air conditioning was quiet and effective, keeping the room comfortable without adding extra noise. Overall, it’s a budget-friendly, well-located option, but expectations should be managed — upgrades and better noise control would be needed to justify a true 4-star experience.

The Junior staffs did not provide proper information and advice to customers. Ask 1 question and answer 1 thing, acting like a robot.
