I visit Amsterdam often and like to try different hotels when I can. Sofitel did not disappoint.
All staff I encountered were professional, extremely helpful and friendly. We were asked by Luka (sp) if we'd like a tour of the "Marriage Room". He had Sam show us around with a thorough tour, stating a more in depth and longer tour of some of the property took place at 11am daily.
My canal facing room was lovely and spacious, with a window that opened to get some fresh air. No issues with noise from the outside with the window closed.
I totally enjoyed breakfast with plenty of sweet, savory, healthy options. Best and smartest part was that hot items were ordered from a menu and served at the table. Wish all hotels would do this and get rid of those ineffective "hot" plates where food is barely warm. Bravo Sofitel Legend!!
Bar was nice and cozy, serving some small bites to nosh on.
Location is in Centrum near Metro and tram stops, plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes nearby.
All in all a great choice.

The hotel itself is beautiful—elegant, historic, and sophisticated, yet incredibly warm and welcoming. The location is outstanding for exploring Amsterdam, with so much of the city easily accessible on foot, while the hotel itself feels like a peaceful retreat from the activity outside.
What truly distinguished my stay, however, was the level of service. Every interaction was gracious, professional, and attentive without ever feeling overly formal. The staff consistently made me feel genuinely welcomed and cared for, and the attention to detail throughout my stay was remarkable.
The accommodations were beautiful and exceptionally comfortable, and every aspect of the experience reflected the quality and hospitality one hopes to find in a truly outstanding luxury hotel.
The Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam exceeded my expectations and made my time in Amsterdam even more memorable. It is a very special property, and I would return without hesitation.

we spent 2 nights here and found the staff to be extremely helpful and caring to us. My wife had sprained her ankle the previous day and your concierge provided us with a wheelchair to use during our stay. The young lady at reception went out of her way to get us into a room near the elevator and check us in early. The concierge also provided advice on a clinic for travelers close to the hotel where she could have her foot evaluated.

Our stay was lovely...bed was comfortable, housekeeping was timely and good, hotel staff were so friendly and welcoming. We especially want to thank Nils and the Concierge team who helped us maneuver restaurant reservations with our considerable food allergies. Hello,
We stayed with you recently and wanted to share some honest feedback. We've been guests before — and loved it — so I hope you'll take this in the spirit it's intended.
When we stayed in June, everything was wonderful and we left a glowing review. This visit was noticeably different, and a few things stood out:
Breakfast. Service was very slow, and guests who were seated after us were attended to before we were. On the mornings we were heading to the track, we couldn't use our breakfast credit at all because there wasn't enough time — waiting 15+ minutes just for a coffee to go felt unreasonable.
Mice. We saw mice running around outside the bar, with the door left open. When we brought it up, we were told staff was already aware. That felt like an afterthought rather than something being addressed, and it didn't feel sanitary.
Room. The shower only ran warm on our final night.
To be fair, there were real bright spots. Alexs in the bar was excellent, and the private canal boat tour arranged for us was a highlight of the trip.
We genuinely love this property, which is why this stay was such a disappointment compared to the last. If there's anything you'd like to discuss or make right, I'd welcome the conversation.

Normally we were extremely satisfied but we announced our 7th anniversary at the reception and they forgot to communicate this to the restaurant. So we came in the morning had no table, no special attention was paid to the occasion. My wife and I were disappointed, and it left a bad impression.

Staff, amenities and location are just fantastic! Centrally located but once you enter the hotel you don’t even remember that you are in the busiest part of town. Staff are kind, thoughtful and helpful.

Had a 4 night stay. Hotel was well situated with helpful friendly staff.One of which took time to explain the history and show us the beautifully preserved rooms. Rooms very clean and well equipped and the beds were so comfy. Would highly recommend and will definitely be staying there again in the future..
