I was given room 201. 1. On entry first impressions were the carpet had not been cleaned. First impressions matter. It turned out that the carpets were very old and stained according to the cleaners the next day. 2. There was a problem with the drainage in the sink. I reported this the next day to the cleaners and reception. The problem was not resolved but the solution provided was to completely remove the stopper from the sink. The reception explained that they plan to renovate the room in the future. 3. On the last day I was disturbed by the cleaners after midday while on a work related call. I interrupted my call to explain to the cleaner that as a Silver member I was entitled to a late check out which I had informed the receptionist about when I arrived and checked in. Two more times over the next hour I had people knocking on the door disturbing me while on calls. This was really frustrating even though I showed them my membership card. In the past, we had a 15mins no quibble guarantee. That is now no longer there. We used to have phones in the rooms to call reception. No longer available. My impression was that standards have dropped.

Having stayed at the IBIS west Thurrock many times I would usually have reviewed a very good experience, however on this occasion they have totally failed my expectations and failed their own usually high standard that I come to expect. The room in which I was allocated has a smashed shower tray and in my opinion the room should have been taken out of service, however when reporting I was informed and I quote " yes we know about that" to say I was shocked with the response is an understatement. - now to clarify when I say smashed I mean a lot of damage, showering the water would go through the cracks :(.

Friendly staff in an accommodation that could use some attention and upkeep. The room was clean but run down and a bit rough around the edges. The location isn't brilliant but there isn't much else around.
