Staff on arrival were lovely but when we came back for our room keys there was a mix up with payment, however, this was soon resolved. Breakfast was excellent.

This IBIS is in a great location and within easy walking distance of a large majority of the attractions and visitor sites. Although a good up hill yomp is required to reach the hotel from the railway station (Waverley) it was worth the effort for the location. The hotel is poorly signed and we walked past it in the first instant. The reception and bar area were clean and the staff friendly. There is limited seating which is a negative if you are with a big party or there is a big party at the bar. The toilets are down a flight of stairs or you have to use the lift, which can only work with your room card. The lift was always available and staying on the 2nd floor was no hassle due to the speed of the lift. Although the recording said 'Door Opening' when in fact the doors were closing and visa-versa, quite a chuckle really. The rooms are small and a little tired, with limited space, a big case will take up all the space available. The drinks were fine, the normal tea & coffee. There is no where to hang a coat which would have been good as the coats were wet from the heavy rain and could not be hung in the 'wardrobe' with our other clothes. The beds were comfortable, as were the pillows whilst the quilt was adequate. The instructions for the heating were a little confusing but sorted after reading them a few times. The breakfast was very good with the staff attentive and pleasant. Overall, I would say the hotel is 3* budget and over priced which is a shame, although we did visit close to Christmas and all the other hotels were as expensive or more expensive. Would we stay again? Probably not at the price we paid, I would prefer to spend a little bit more and get the 4*/5* service and comfort, knowing that value for money.
