From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with gracious hospitality and genuine warmth. Every detail, from the beautifully presented room service breakfast to the thoughtful turndown service, made me feel truly cared for throughout my stay. The hotel grounds, restaurants, and lounges were absolutely stunning, creating an atmosphere that was both elegant and inviting. I cannot wait to return and will enthusiastically recommend this hotel to others.

Having stayed at other acclaimed resorts in Rio I can honestly say I left my heart at the Fairmont. First, the view is beyond any other resort in the city. It is at the perfect angle and location. It is the only resort with a beach club offering food, drinks and lounge service.... and the pool definitely has the most amazing view of the layered mountains. While Impanema gets the sunset, the sunrise in Copacabana is beyond incredible. From the bright orange mornings to the hundreds of paddlers in the sea, it is really magical. Love the staff here. They mean it when they say they try to "Make Special Happen." Upgrade to Gold Lounge makes all the difference and splurge for a room overlooking Sugarloaf. The new glass terraces are awesome.

To start with the positives - club lounge staff impeccable at all times. The issue was we had booked the club upgrade as I have a condition and cannot cope in busy areas. Because we were generally alone daily in the club pool bed area, we always had to go upstairs to get and attention or service. The worst of all aspects was the building work, which was not socialised with us before our stay, and it was constant, every day of our stay, including weekends! Worse still, the work was to the external envelope to the building with constant drilling and grinding. The noise was relentless with no rest bite at all. It really did ruin what was meant to be a luxury once in a lifetime holiday.

As always it was amazing. Especially from the pool area and breakfast : Dhom, Vinicius, Gustavo and Marcio (i don’t know how to spell his name exactly, he wears glasses and works at the breakfast shift and always smiles very friendly at everyone) These 4 people have been in fairmont for many years and i can honestly say they have maintained a standard for quality in the highest level possible. They are providing a service better than anyone i have ever seen. It makes me really sad to see that after visiting three years fairmont, none of them have been promoted into a managing position even though they do a better job than most of them. For 3 years they give 100% everyday even though life probably isn’t always easy. That is truly a unique quality! In my opinion especially many of the newer people seem less motivated and could learn a lot from them. At reception, Rickenson is always happy to help with any questions and truly values a good service. I look forward to my next trip and hope the people mentioned get the recognition they deserve! The woman at checkout had a very unfriendly attitude. Best regards Patrick E.

We honestly expected a much better experience at the Fairmont given the reputation and price point, but overall the stay was underwhelming. Unfortunately, Trivago made an error with our booking and we ended up in a family style street view room despite traveling as a couple, expecting ocean front view. While this was not the hotel’s fault, the street view rooms are definitely disappointing for the cost and lacked the luxury feel we were expecting. The room itself showed noticeable wear and tear throughout, such as visible water damage and rippling on the walls, rough flooring with gaps in the wood, sliding doors that didn’t close properly, and a balcony with chipped cement. The bathrooms were beautiful visually, but there was a strong sewage smell at times. Even small details like the white lampshades looked worn and marked with dirt. Overall, the room felt dated and not particularly well maintained. The standout part of the property is definitely the 6th floor pool area. The views are stunning and the breakfast buffet is also served there each morning, which made for a great setting to start the day. Vegan options were somewhat limited, but manageable. One frustrating experience was trying to visit the rooftop area in the evening. We were not informed that reservations were required, so we were initially turned away and directed to sit in the lobby area, which felt awkward since there is no proper lobby bar or service there. We ended up making a reservation ourselves online just to get access for cocktails. There was also an added entertainment fee because live music was being set up, even though we were only there briefly for drinks and didn’t actually stay for the performance. Service overall was fine, but nothing particularly memorable or reflective of what you would expect from a luxury Fairmont property.
