Comfy beds thats about it. The rooms are massively outdated and need a refresh. Lack of plugs at bedside and lighting in the room made it frustrating. AC intake vent leaked and constantly dripped. Bathroom was too be expected for an outdated room, simply needs some TLC and deep clean. Once back home however in SA, the hotel tried to call me. Surely you would check on the state and time? but no name or extension was left on the voicemail, called the hotel back who didn't know how to help me and was advised to just wait for a call back tomorrow .... ugh. Same with their FB messaging who couldn't help. Why call me and leave a VM with no name or extension and give me the generic reception phone number?

I will never stay at this price gouging hotel ever again!

So, I had to find somewhere to stay in Perth for the night and being a Platinum Accor member I went to my default hotel which is this place. Forgetting that the previous visit they over-charged my card by some $200AUD which was paid back a week after I brought it to their attention without even an apology. This time I booked a junior suite for a tidy sum of $711 for one night due to some major event going on in town so annoyed at the price gouging which went on but not much choice but to book. Used some points to bring down the overall price from outrageous to something bearable - just. Most hotels would have thrown in lounge access for this price but this place does not have this so not sure why they charge these exorbitant rates. Due to my status I normally get some 'goodies" which are sent to the room but nothing turned up and too much hassle to make enquiries as had some online Teams meeting to do in the evening. So had to avail myself of a couple of cokes and crisps from the mini bar which I declared on checkout thinking they would waive it given the cost of the room. A very unsympathetic receptionist said i had to pay so tried to hand her cash which she declined as they don't take cash - which is illegal by the way as it is legal tender. So, annoyed at the appalling way the receptionist treated me I then went and cancelled a booking I had two days later for $315AUD and have booked a room at the Pan Pacific just opposite for $225. Novotel's loss, Pan Pacific gain - the staff there are fantastic by the way. I will never stay here again - apart from the price gouging which went on at this hotel, the rooms are tired and in need of modernisation. The gym - if you want to call it that is a pathetic mix of some weights and not much else which gets the afternoon sun and becomes a furnace after lunch. The doors to the balcony are locked so you cant even let fresh air in. One other thing - they charge your CC $50 instead of putting a hold on the card which is reimbursed a week later. The reason is they get the interest on the money whilst it is in their account. Most hotels just put a hold on the card which does not show up on the statement but with this hotel I have to justify to accounts what this is for. This RIP-OFF PRACTISE MUST CEASE! On a final note - this hotel doubles up as a brothel - If you don't think it is a brothel you should have seen some of the people I had to share a lift with on a number of occasions! No visible security here and they bring female guests in straight from the front door to the lift without any security or questions at all. I will wave hello to you across the road from the Pan Pacific when I arrive and depart from now on. All communication with the reception staff was kept at a professional and courteous level at all times; which is more than I can say about the patronising way I was spoken to. Goodbye! P.S. In your reply, don't try and spin the above as they are all facts.

The hotel has been around for a number of years, slight upgrades have been done but still a little dated. The help-yourself filtered and chilled water tap dispensers are a nice touch. The AC struggles with the warm Perth weather.

We reached post midnight at the hotel and were greeted by a sprightly young girl called Upasana. Our stay was quite pleasant through the two nights we stayed here. Alas we had to move to another hotel for the remaining 3 nights of our stay in Perth, as the rates at Novotel were too high for these following nights. The ONLY suggestion, if at all, is to consider offering special rates for one part of the stay if they are inordinately high compared to the other part. This would save the guests logistics hassles, plus maintain their loyalty to the hotel itself.
