We booked a larger room as we were staying for 3 days. The room was clean, tidy and staff provided daily cleaning services. We had a lovely view over the Swan River. Breakfast was reasonable, eggs cooked as per our order and a good selection of other breakfast foods. Staff - very responsive to requests. Dinner - we ate dinner at Fenian’s Irish Pub each night. Good food, happy hour, great staff. Lifts - one was out of action on check in but on the second day lift number two was out, this left just one working lift and the hotel was busy! Yes, the hotel needs updating but all in all, it was pretty good.

Every other hotel puts a hold on the card - even their sister hotel in the city does that. There is no reason why they should actually take $50 per night bond from the card. This practice, if not illegal is certainly unethical - a view shared by a couple of other people when I checked in. We all know why they do it - so that it looks good on their books and earns them interest for the three to four days they hold on to the money after check out. It is a disgraceful practice which needs to stop.

I have been coming for over 20 years on business, but this will be my last stay, Familiarity has lost is gloss with my recent stay. The plumbing leaked all night unless you overtightened the taps to excess, the shower pressure is a trickle which is even more difficult to deal with in the old fashioned bath tube curtain type showers. Mini bar is once again removed (unstocked) apparently for MY convenience, but don't try to get a drink at Fenians or for that matter the main lobby bar if you happen to arrive 9.25pm five minutes before closing time (Internet says 11pm close) and a simple meal for room service is to inconvenient for the kitchen staff, unless I wait until 9pm.
