Hotel reception bar and restaurant really nicely decorated. Only issue is that makes you think the rooms will be the same. They aren’t!! Outdated, artex walls dirty carpet. Very very basic fixtures and the room smelt of sewage. I was there one night otherwise I would have moved. 4 star reception but a 1 star room at best. We ate at hotel and there was only us in restaurant. Menu basic. I chose the fish and chips and when it arrived the whole meal looked like it was from Iceland. I’m not being negative about Iceland but when you eat in a 4 star hotel you expect better. Fish fillet was full of bones. I went to bed starving!! Breakfast was okay. Some things like hash browns had been left under lamps too long. We had a conference there and lunch was okay. I travel a lot but wouldn’t stay here again

Great location a 5 minute walk from Sheffield train station. Wifi connection was not strong enough which meant I could not work using the hotel wifi. Loved the pool but disappointed the steam room was out of action.

Very comfortable and relaxing. Second stay at the Sheffield hotel, on a visit to my son and young family recently moved to Sheffield. Their house is crowded enough already, so it was a relief to spend energetic time with them during the day, and 'down time' at the hotel come evening. & an early morning swim set us up for the day, to brave long walks and sight-seeing in decidedly mixed weather. (We're both in our 70s, so the chance of a quiet siesta was also welcomed. However, we were unfortunate in that our stay coincided with radical renovation works to the corridor on which our room was situated). Staff altogether friendly and helpful throughout.

We stay at this hotel regularly for ponds forge. On arrival the second bed was not made and there was a dirty towel on the floor. I could get through to the desk on the phone so went downstairs. On leaving the room the metal carpet strip was hanging off and I couldn’t shut the door so I reported this issue too. In the morning it was evident the sink was blocked so I reported this too. All issues were resolved but the sink drain still smelt badly. We were offered a room move but I had booked two rooms adjacent to one another so we did not move.
