I enjoyed the room, though the shower was not very warm. I wet for a swim and to use the steam room, but the steam room didn't work. The toilets were blocked in the changing rooms. The smoke detector directly above the bed had a red light blinking all through the night, which was bright enough to wake me up. I had a business breakfast meeting and paid in advance for my 2 guests. However one of my guests was then charged again, and the supervisor stated they couldn't refund her. I was told it would have to be refunded on my card, which was embarrassing. The receptionist was helpful but still couldn't reimburse my guest. All in all, mostly due to the high quality i usually have from Novotel, this was not a good experience.

Parking was a nightmare, driving round 4 or 5 times to find a spot even though I had a blue badge. Rooms comfortable but quite stuffy.Staff welcoming,friendly and helpful. Food well cooked and served.

The room decor felt dated - however, it was clean and comfortable and the hotel is well located. The shower screen wasn't sealed and leaked onto the floor (room 212). We booked the pool but couldn't get the steam room to work and had to ask a child to get more towels from the men's changing room as there weren't any left. Wet towels were strewn everywhere in the changing room. The pool area needs better management when it's busy and the steam room needs to work properly (we tried pressing the button but nothing happened).

I am a frequent customer of this hotel, the staff are fantastic and hotel in general is good. However, on this occasion, I felt I was given an older room that was a bit scruffy and dated (despite the fantastic cleaners). I am a member and on your points scheme, therefore I probably would have expected a better quality room, not in an older part of the hotel.

Room size was okay for a family of 4, but quite dusty and pillows were uncomfortable. Breakfast offering was quite meagre- it's gone downhill since our last visit. Pool is a nice feature though and location is good. Won't be rushing to stay again sadly... Parking is expensive at £18 per night. Spaces are very tight!
