One Night at Novotel Sheffield

I’ve stayed just one night here in Sheffield on a quick trip, and what could’ve been a scary moment turned into the best part of the stay. My friend lives with diabetes, and around midnight, her blood sugar took a sudden dip. We rushed to call reception, hearts racing, and were met by i believe his name is Angelo the night team – who didn’t even blink. The room itself was clean and quiet – exactly what we needed . We left feeling looked after, not just housed. Would 100% come back.

Hotel well positioned, common area's clean and reasonable. Guest room dated and worn. Carpet stains, worn furniture and generally a bit dated.

It is in a good spot in the city centre however. The room was ridiculously hot and we turned the temperature down but still it was very warm and we had a bad nights sleep. On top of this the pillows were hard and not comfortable so neither of us had a good nights sleep

Rubbish stay due to power being cut to the building 45 mins before schedule. My wife had to walk up to the top floor and bring several bags down, she suffers from asthma. No offer of help.

I booked a stay at the Novotel Sheffield Centre hotel via Hotel.com on 21 October 2025, with reservation number 73…97, for the dates 28 November 2025 to 30 November 2025. Upon checking in on 28 November (Room 521, Ming C. L.) my plan was to wake up at 5:00 AM on 30 November to catch a long-haul flight departing at 10:25 AM from Manchester Airport. I went to bed at 12:30 AM on 30 November, leaving the washroom light on. When I woke up at 5:00 AM, I discovered the room was completely dark due to a power outage. This forced me to pack my belongings using only my phone light. Unfortunately, I was unable to brush my teeth or take a shower as there was no hot water. When I tried to enquire with staff on my floor in dark in the corridor, all the answer I had was he has no time to talk to me. Additionally, I had to carry my luggage down five flights of stairs as the lift was not operational. These inconveniences caused delays and made me rush to the airport. I encountered a lady, who I believe was the hotel manager upon my departure, and I expressed my dissatisfaction with the situation. She informed me that notices about the planned power outage were posted throughout the hotel. However, I only noticed an A4-sized notice near a Christmas event advertisement in the lift and another similar notice on a stand at the reception desk. These notices can hardly be described as conspicuous and it was not brought to my attention before checking in and there was no similar notice in my room. It is obvious that the hotel failed in two key areas: First, they did not notify me of the planned power outage prior to my arrival, preventing me from making an informed decision about whether to proceed with the booking. Second, they did not inform me about this disruption during the check-in process, leaving me unprepared to plan accordingly.
