Good hotel. Comfortable rooms. Great choice in breakfast buffet. Excellent service in restaurant by Ms. Asha. Very good housekeeping by Mr. Maher. Managing fire alarms at night is an area of improvement for the hotel. The fire alarm on 7th floor of Tower A was sounded at 1 am on 24 May and apparently it was a false alarm. While the residents of the floor evacuated and walked down to the lobby, the response of the person manning the reception was less than satisfactory. She had no clue and didn't even tell the guests to go back to the rooms.

We had a lovely stay for a few days. Well located, a short walk to the metro and other surrounding areas. The complimentary drinks were a lovely bonus. Quiet and comfortable.

Accessing the hotel was rather difficult after alighting from the metro stop right in front of Leonardo hotel and walking the street of that hotel to the end, only to discover that the path was blocked and there was need for another 20 minutes walk back to the main street and then towards the street where the main entrance of Mercure is located. The hotel room looked lovely and everything worked well, except for the image of Piet Hein on the bathroom door, overlooking the bed and couch area in many small squares. I understand that he was quite noble in Dutch history and that he fought slavery, having been a slave himself. It was sufficient to see him in the lobby, elegantly placed on the wall. I find it invasive to have a lot of his pictures in my booked space. Nothin about his history was provided there, and I had to go ask at the reception - and not everyone could provide information about him. Thankfully, they typed his name online, and I took a picture of that for my own research. Besides, the TV does not have any Youtube facilities. This is a bit disappointing, as I could not find any programme I would like to watch on the TV stations provided.
