Comfortable and Practical Stay at Novotel Athens

I recently stayed at the Novotel Athens and had a comfortable and practical experience. The hotel is well-suited for business travelers, providing all the essential amenities needed for a smooth stay, it is also well suited for the leisure guest too. The staff were exceptionally helpful, going out of their way to ensure that all my needs were met, which made my visit even more enjoyable. One of the highlights of the hotel is the rooftop pool. Although it is on the smaller side, it has a great vibe and a wonderful atmosphere during the day. It's a perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the city or attending business meetings. The hotel's location is relatively convenient, with many of Athens' attractions within a maximum of a 10-minute drive/metro train ride away. This makes it easy to visit popular sites without spending too much time commuting. However, the area surrounding the hotel is not particularly nice. While we didn't encounter any issues during our stay, the general neighborhood feels a bit rundown, which could be off-putting for some guests. Overall, despite the less appealing surroundings, the comfort, practicality, and outstanding service at Novotel Athens make it a worthwhile choice. I would definitely stay there again.

I have to say I was very disappointed with my experience at the Novotel in Athens. Prior to booking this hotel, I read the reviews and people were giving great reviews and the overall rating was 4 stars. The staff were not professional, except for the nice lady that came to us with some things to do in Athens. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel here’s why. I had booked 3 months prior to our travel and there was a great deal for family as we had 6 people all up - which gave us two standard rooms and 50% discounts for the second room. I received one email to confirm this booking and it says that we had only €379 left to pay at the hotel - as they had deducted 50% of the cost at booking. When we went to check in, we were confronted by a lady that was not so friendly. She asked us how we wanted to pay for the remaining amount, which we asked if we can split the remaining amount on two credit card, which she said yes to but she ended up charging €379 on each of our credit charge. When we realised what she had done, we told her she made a mistake. She told us we had it wrong, and that the €379 remaining was for only one room. I told her I had rang the hotel after the booking to confirm the outstanding amount, as I did think the offer was too good to be true, and at the time the hotel had advised me at we only had to pay €379 upon checking into the hotel for the two rooms. We didn’t get an apology for the misled information and ended up having to pay double the amount that we were initially told to pay - misleading and false advertising. We had dinner one of the nights at there roof top restaurant, which had the view of the Acropolis- which was nice but the food was ordinary but super expensive. We had ordered the mussels, it was so salty we could only stomach 1/4 of it and we told the waitress when she asked us how was the meal - of how salty it was, she just smiled and took the dish away. The pool was ridiculously shallow. The worst part is the location of this hotel, it is located in the slum area Athen - lots of graffiti, homelessness and druggies. Not ideal for family or young people. No wonder they had the discounted rooms. We found we had to uber it, to go anywhere, and there was no real good eateries nearby. Definitely not 4 star rating - travellers be aware of this hotel.

Perfect hotel, friendly and well prepared staff. Amazing view of the Akropolis from the roof top pool/restaurant. Not so many hotels have such a view and a roof top. My room (superior), was a little bit old-dated in some details, and the air conditioning didn't work properly. With 36° outside temperature, it was a little bit problematic to sleep well. But overall, very nice stay.
