Lovely pool top view, but not quite Novotel standard. The carpets smelled and insides were looking a bit scruffy. The lifesaver on duty, who was in a bikini top, was also cleaning up drinks and walking behind the bar. She seemed very useful but the place seemed unsestaffed and not as professional as usual. The bartender was adding syrup to Aperols. Just all a bit not quite 'Novotel'. Checkin experience was great. Yummy buffet.

I should start by saying that I’m Hilton Diamond, IHG Platinum, and Marriott Platinum. I recently began my relationship with Accor, and it couldn’t have started in a worse way. For my first stay, I was assigned an accessible room, even though that’s not what I had booked. The shower was ridiculous—there wasn’t even a proper shower enclosure. Within the first five seconds of taking a shower, the entire bathroom was flooded. On top of that, the room was dirty, and the carpet was absolutely filthy. It was honestly horrible. ROOM 209, you can check it yourself, specially the carpet on the left side of the bed. Since I arrived late that evening and was leaving early the next morning, I didn’t even bother complaining or wasting my energy over that first stay. Four days later, when I returned for my second stay, the very first thing I told the front desk was that I had been given a terrible room during my previous visit and that I would appreciate being assigned at least a decent room this time. The employee acted as if he understood exactly what I was saying—and then proceeded to assign me the exact same accessible room again. The same dirty, awful room, despite the fact that it wasn’t the room category I had booked. This time, however, I had more time and was willing to deal with it. I took my luggage up to the room, opened the door, saw that it was the same room again, and immediately went back downstairs. The first question I asked the employee was whether he spoke English, because apparently he hadn’t understood a single thing I had said during check-in. They eventually changed my room and finally gave me a proper one. As if the terrible room assignment and poor service weren’t enough, the only piece of information I asked the staff for was how to get to the airport. The receptionist told me I needed to change trains at another station, when in reality there was a direct train leaving from the exact same station with no transfer required. So, from beginning to end, the reception staff delivered the worst hotel service I have ever experienced in my life. Rather than helping guests, they were a complete disservice to the hotel and significantly damaged what could have been a good experience. This was, unfortunately, my personal experience.
