To be honest, my feedback is exactly the same as the one I already posted publicly on Google. After more than 30 years of travelling extensively, both for business and personal reasons, this was probably the worst hotel experience I have ever had in the Accor group. I booked the rooms several months in advance and paid approximately €250 per night per room, including breakfast. At that price level, I expected a reasonable standard. What I found was completely different. The rooms were in a very poor condition. The carpets were stained and dirty. The room was sold as a family room, but there is no way I would have allowed children to sleep on the sofa bed. I inspected it myself and found it extremely dirty, worn and partially rusted. The bathroom showed clear signs of poor maintenance, with black mould visible in some of the joints. The room door itself did not close properly and had a visible gap. I even posted photographs showing these issues. Unfortunately, the same condition could be seen in the breakfast area, where many of the sofas and furnishings appeared heavily worn and neglected. I want to be clear that my criticism is not directed at the staff. The employees I interacted with were polite and professional. The problem is the condition of the property itself. The location of the hotel is not something I can blame the hotel for, as that was my own choice when booking. However, the overall state of the building, the rooms, the furnishings and the common areas was far below what I would expect from a Novotel and certainly not what I would expect in a major European capital. I have stayed in many Accor hotels over the years, across different brands and countries. This is the first time I have felt that the gap between the price paid and the quality delivered was so extreme.

What a shame, honestly. I’ve never been so surprised and disappointed after staying in a Novotel. Novotel is a brand, and we chose this brand as a “quality standard and guarantee”. At Novotel Athens, the standard is: 15/20 years old furniture, dusty and stained rooms, broken lights, … we’ve been upgraded— which is nice and usual because of my status, but the suite we’ve stayed in was barely a standard room in my point of view. The swimming pool was closed due to the weather (it didn’t rain, it wasn’t windy….); and the rate honestly… 200€, it would have been 350€ if we had had to pay for the suite… I cannot express more disappointment.
