was first directed to the wrong room when checking in - so when I reached the room the card didnt work at the door - so I had to return to reception to check the card. Found out I was sent to the wrong room. Not a good start.

We originally booked for 3 nights but changed this to 2 night quickly afterwards and within the allowable time frame. We were directed to the app to manage this change but that was not an easy path. We emailed our change. On arrival we we told that we had booked for 3 nights and they did not have access to emails. A note was taken. On departure the invoice was for 3 nights which we also explained the above and we left understanding that we were going to be charged 2 night on our credit card that was on file. We received our invoice and we were charged for 3 nights. This was cleared up via a phone call and proof that the original email was sent. We are very disappointed that these costs were taken from our account without consent and consider this fraudulent. I do not understand how a business can undertake this type of practice with its customers.

I stayed at the Millennium Rotorua with my two children (16 and 20 years old). We were all really impressed by the friendly and helpful staff on arrival/check in. We stayed on the 4th floor overlooking a lovely garden area below. Our rooms were spacious, newly decorates with very comfy beds. This was our first time staying at the Millennium Rotorua- we will be booking again. I highly recommend this hotel if you want a hotel that is close to all amenities, that has well appointed, freshly redecorated rooms with comfy beds. This hotel is ideal for a couples weekend away or a family getaway.

The bathroom was extremely dated and looked like it had not been properly updated or maintained for a very long time. The towel rack was rusty, and the overall condition of the bathroom made it feel old, tired, and not what we expected from a hotel like this. The biggest problem, however, was the temperature of the room. It was absolutely freezing. The air conditioner seemed to be broken and would only blow out cold air, no matter what setting we used. We turned the temperature all the way up to the highest setting, hoping the room would eventually warm up, but it made no difference at all. It just continued blowing cold air into an already freezing room. We tried adjusting the controls several times, but nothing worked. The room stayed uncomfortably cold throughout our stay, to the point where it was difficult to properly relax or get comfortable. It honestly felt more like sitting inside a fridge than staying in a hotel room. The front desk lady, Sunny, was very helpful and arranged for heaters to be brought up to our room. Those heaters honestly saved our lives because without them, the room would have been almost unbearable. We really appreciated her help and quick response. For the price and the standard we expected from Novotel, this was extremely disappointing. A hotel room should at the very least be comfortable to sleep and relax in, but the broken air conditioning and the dated condition of the bathroom made the whole stay feel unpleasant and poorly maintained.
