I have stayed several times in the past and the hotel was getting a bit dated, or at least the rooms I stayed in were, this trip though I was pleasently suprised as I think the room had recently been refeshed and was bright, clean and airy.

Very conveniently located with a well set up room with everything I needed. Loved the water tap and milk down in the lobby as well as the access to the pools at the other hotel. All the front desk staff were very helpful and kind.

When checking in, the front desk informed me that while they have an on-site car park, parking across the street was free and fine to use. Trusting their advice, I parked there, only to wake up to a $70 NZD council fine for parking without a valid permit. I sent an email explaining the situation and politely requested assistance or clarification, but have received no response at all. Getting penalized because of staff misinformation is frustrating, but being completely ignored afterwards is unacceptable service. Highly disappointed.

Overall great. Everything a very high standard except the shower which worked but for an average size/height person or taller it was hopeless - it was small and cramped and the shower head which was fixed was at shoulder height, I had to bend down to use it and there was hardly any room to bend down comfortably.

Breakfast was not well, over five mornings there was different issues each one. Food either over cooked, sitting too long, inedible or spoiled/off. Food spoilage practices and safe holding times did not appear to very prevelant

Such a good check-in experience: knew it would be a good stay. The room with a lake outlook made for an amazing work space for some emails. Real milk for a cuppa was offered. Fluffy towels. Amazing mattress. Good pressure on the shower. All the important things. Thank you
