We stayed at the Mercure Paignton for a couple of days over the bank holiday visiting family. This is a really nice hotel, great location and the rooms are spacious, clean and new. The hotel also allows pets which is great for us, this was at a charge of £15 a night. The only downside is the parking. The hotel car park is very small with tight spaces. We could not get a space the 2 days we stayed here. If we could get a space it would be £15 a day. They do have a couple of EV charging points in the car park but these were taken up by none EV’s. There is charging points at the pub next door though so this isn’t a big problem. The spaces on the road are also very limited with parking restrictions. The multi story at the end of the road has also been knocked down, I would take this into consideration when booking next time but on a whole the hotel is a very nice place to stay.

Would highly recommend staying here. Staff were lovely and the room was so comfortable with everything you need and in a perfect location close to everything going on. Immaculately clean everywhere - the sea view rooms are great - All lovely and new and would stay again without a doubt

Very nice hotel with polite but with staff who don’t know how to run a hotel.

Hotel was excellent and great value for money. Looked like it had recently been refurbished and it looked good for it. Absolutely no complaints at all about the hotel. The staff however were another matter. While they were polite there just was something off with them. Simple things like the bar maid explaining how she’d worked the bar for several weeks but had never heard of Port? Nor any idea what glass to serve it. Again when a guest next to us asked for a whiskey - the bottle was almost empty so was poured about a 40% full glass but bar maid only offered to discount it by 10%. Not get another bottle or anything? Front desk staff. Also did not seem to know how to check people in. Nice people the just don’t know how to run a hotel.

Have just had one night at the amazing hotel. The hotel is In the perfect location right on paignton seafront. From the moment we checked in with Amy the receptionist, who was fantastic and so helpful, to the moment we Checked out nothing was too much trouble. We had a meal in the restaurant which was amazing, hats off to the chef. Again thank you for a wonderful stay, will definitely stay here and recommend to friends and family

Excellent location and staff but let down by restaurant availability

This is a new hotel with good quality rooms. Staff are polite and helpful but it was let down by availability of eating evening meal in hotel. On our 1st night we could not book a table due to coach party staying at hotel. The next night we booked a table but when we went to eat no table had been reserved and we were told that due to coach party service would be slow so again we did not eat at the restaurant. I appreciate coach parties take up a large part of hotel but other guests should be able to eat at the restaurant. Large parties should be catered for in a separate room. I was glad that I did not book a dinner bed/breakfast option as there was no way we could have eaten in hotel. I feel this needs to be addressed so all guests can enjoy restaurant
