I'd like to begin with thanking the excellent Front Desk Staff, especially a Polish man (I think his name was Tadeusz) and a man from Kazakhstan. But here are some problems: (1) the breakfast buffet was what you would expect from a 2* hotel: really quite poor, done as cheaply as possible, with as little love and care. The scrambled eggs were a repugnant yellow gel, as if made from powder, the sausages and lardons were cheap low quality, the bread was limited in choice and stale, the fruit juices were clearly cheap concentrate based, there was no generous selection of fresh fruit. It was a breakfast made as stingily as possible. (2) as someone who stayed several times in the Hotel des Colonies, most recently admittedly in 2015, I was dismayed by how ACCOR had cheapened an art deco jewel of a hotel, once known for generously sized rooms with high ceilings. My room had no bed side table until I complained of it, and no small refrigerator -- things one expects from a good 3* or a 4* hotel. (3) I specifically asked for my room to be cleaned every other day. Not once in the four days I was there did your cleaning staff turn up to fix the room, empty the bins, clean the toilet and bath. (4) generally the hotel is decorated in the cheap big box hotel style, no elegance or charm I have two more business trips to Brussels later this year. I will not be choosing Hotel des Colonies, I regret, although I have good memories of what the hotel once was.

TV broken, wifi broken, bar closed, other guests in my room, exposed electricity in the room, light switches did not work. I did mail the hotel and hotel manager and got no response.
