The hotel facilities are high-end and very comfortable. The breakfasts are incredible. What makes it really special is the staff. Christina and her colleague in the breakfast room were charming. Always welcoming you as you arrive and asking you about your day. I attended a Cypriot wedding during my stay and she was genuinely interested in how it went. Staff members like Christina are one of the reasons I would return to this hotel. Thank you for being so kind and attentive, Christina. Also, shout out to the receptionist (with the funky hair cut) for ensuring my taxi arrived in time. First class service, thank you.

We stayed at the Mercure in late September and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is centrally located in Larnaca, so pretty much everything you need is within easy walking distance, including a great choice of restaurants and bars. The facilities are very good, with a rooftop bar and pool area as well as a small gym. Breakfast was fresh and varied, with plenty of choice for both meat-eaters and vegetarians. On Sundays breakfast is extended until 11am, which was very welcome and something we would have appreciated during the week as well. Getting up early is one thing you generally want to avoid while on holiday! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay, particularly when we wanted to hire a car at short notice. Our room was clean and well appointed, and the bed was very comfortable. Our only real negative was the road noise, although we appreciate this is outside the hotel’s control. The hotel is next to a busy road through the town, so there was quite a lot of traffic noise at times, including loud exhausts, stereos, engine revving and tyres over the cobbled streets. There were also roadworks taking place nearby from around 7am, which added to the early morning noise. Ironically, it wasn’t until the Saturday morning when we were leaving that we realised the patio doors behind the curtains hadn’t been fully closed and the lock appeared to be broken. Had we spotted that earlier, closing them properly might have reduced some of the noise. Ultimately, though, there is always going to be a trade-off between having such a central location and staying somewhere quieter further out of town. We specifically wanted to be within walking distance of central Larnaca, and for that the location was excellent. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. The hotel was comfortable, clean and well equipped, the staff were excellent, and we would happily consider staying here again.
