First off, great beer but not anymore after 6. I don’t know why do they expect us to drink from 3-6pm. After 9, there is alcohol section but rather hard liquor :( . In need of deep renovation of the entire hotel and room. the layout of the beds was weird and 2 of the beds were hard sofa(not comfortable for elderly). We were not told this. Big room, good. Online it said it was renovated in 2024 but I think they meant is renovating only the lobby floor, but the view and location is not bad. There’s also no outlet in the bathroom so I had to dry my hair outside of bathroom. Overall not met ‘Mercure’ quality.

Excellent service and first class experience. received a personally written note from the General Manager welcoming us during our stay. He even checked on us while we were having breakfast to make sure everything is in place. received the complimentary van service from the train station and vice versa during our stay

Our stay at Saga Karatsu was an absolute pleasure. Kind, respectful staff who really went out of their way to make our experience fabulous! Loved the extra space and the opportunity to experience western/japanese room. Breakfast was a banquet…Konto was a wonderful man who really went the extra mile. He turned our breakfast banquet into an Extravaganza! Shuttle service was an absolute bonus too (It meant that I got to shop😜) Afternoon and evening drinks and snacks were much welcomed. The Mercure Hospitality really did shine! This opportunity is great because it allows us to enjoy the company of others. It really enhanced our stay!

It’s not enough staffs so some food were empty until the almost end of the buffet. grille station sometimes no staff so you have to wait long time to order and then staff are came but they are not apologizing and not small at all.

Staying at this hotel for seven days was absolutely wonderful. Every morning, I could see the sea as soon as I woke up, and during breakfast, they would reserve a seat right in front of Karatsu Castle. In the afternoon, there was a complimentary Happy Hour where we could drink freely while watching the sunset. The service from the staff was excellent, especially from Mr. Kondo. If I have the chance, I would definitely come back again next time.

The view of Karatsu Castle from the restaurant is excellent. The buffet is decent, though somewhat overpriced considering the quality of the food. The furniture in the room feels quite dated, and the facilities are fairly basic. There is not even an outdoor public bath, which is disappointing for a four-star hotel. Amenities—even for the first night—must be collected from the reception floor. Overall, it feels more like a three-star property than a four-star one.

The front desk staff provided professional check-in service, and the breakfast quality was very good. However, the lounge environment, facilities, and food need improvement—especially the indoor and outdoor lounge areas. It’s hard to feel like you’re actually staying in a high-quality hotel when you’re there.

Karatsu is good place for tourists and enjoyed stay for 2 nights in mercure. Free flow drink from 5pm ish but too many people. It doesnt have capacity to serve all guests. However, food quality you cannot expect much. Its mercure quality only., not 5 stars.

Firstly, the hotel reception is okay since they can speak english fluently (since they're foreigners) the Japanese room type is good. But the Western style somehow look very old and cramped especially when book the room for 4 and got the sofa transform into a bed and got 1 extra bed so in total 4 beds in a weird layout(that's make room felt smaller). For onsen there's only indoor no outdoor, the facilities inside such as cream and hairdryer is so little that everyone need to queue up to use it. If you don't go to onsen in the room also don't have a lotion for you. The great things about this hotel is the location, centered of Karatsu ,near Karatsu castle ,good view. But from overall experience I rather prefer Munakata Mercure more even it's far away in the woods.
