Swissôtel Tashkent 5 stars

Rooms were relatively clean - despite the bathroom sewage smell. Certain people at front desk would question me and my wife when we’d get back to the hotel - insinuating something inappropriate despite her being a registered guest. To the extent that they’d look me up and down then question me. Although I’m a platinum member, no guest should be subjected to such blatant prejudice.

The hotel is new, but unfortunately almost all of the staff lack experience. When I arrived for the first time, I kindly asked the front desk staff to give me the nicest room possible, but my request was refused. What is especially disappointing is that this happened in my own hometown, where all my requests were declined. Until now, in other countries I have often been upgraded for free to larger and better rooms. On the day of my stay, the hotel was almost empty. When I called to ask about late check-out, they told me that they could only extend it by one hour. Recently, when I stayed in Istanbul, I was given a complimentary late check-out until 4:00 PM. Even before my arrival, after making the reservation, I emailed the hotel with a request to place complimentary fruit or sweets in my room, but I never received any response, and upon arrival I saw that my request had not been fulfilled. The hotel itself is new and clean, and the staff are polite, but it is clear that they lack experience. Perhaps this is how it feels because I have been staying at some of the best hotels in the world for over 10 years. However, Swissôtel in other cities usually has a very high level of service, and my requests have always been fulfilled.

Swissôtel Tashkent City is a new hotel. The staff are welcoming and speak English well; one staff member was even able to converse in Mandarin Chinese. The room and bathroom are spacious. Breakfast offers an excellent spread, with each item clearly labeled in Uzbek, Russian, English, and Chinese. The lounge is quiet and spacious, with discreet yet attentive service. The soup served there is particularly good. The pool and shower facilities are well maintained. The gym is very spacious and well equipped. The shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel bottles are placed on the shower floor. When I asked about this, the staff explained that it is a local practice. While understandable, it may be slightly inconvenient for some guests. Unfortunately, the TV in my room could not be turned on. That said, the staff responded promptly and tried their best to resolve the issue. As I stayed only two nights and usually returned to the hotel late, I chose not to wait for the technician to fix it. Overall, a very good stay and will choose this hotel if come back to Tashkent again!
