Centrally located with gorgeous views of Takayama as I was at the top 8th floor The service was tip top, the onsen was very nice, although the temperature was only about 40°C. Breakfast buffet was modest but scrumptious.

Must say the best Mercure I have ever stayed at. Location is just a right turn from Takayama station within 3-5minutes. Hotel has onsen both indoor and outdoor on the top floor, there is even 3 private mini onsens on paid. Room was cozy and modern. Breakfast was comprehensive buffet with a lot of local ingredients and dishes. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

I have stayed in many hotels around the world but I'm saddened to say this is the worst . I would have given it 1 star but at least the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was appalling and service even worse . Hardly any room to sit and have a drink especially waiting 30 minutes to be served . Appalling and should be avoided

We had a really comfortable stay at Mercure Hida Takayama....clean, quiet & in a great location for exploring Takayama. Really enjoyed the onsen too....we somehow had the public onsen all to ourselves when we went & it honestly felt like we'd booked the whole place! Such a nice way to wind down after a day of wandering about. The breakfast spread was great too....lots of choices & a good start to the day. Just a note if you're driving....there's no onsite parking. There's a carpark about 2 mins away but it costs around ¥2,000. We found a cheaper one about 6 mins away & the walk really wasn't far....just cut through JR Takayama Station. Overall, a lovely & comfortable place to come back to after a long day out exploring. We really enjoyed our stay! ❤️
