The opera suite with sea view was absolutely amazing! Plus the staff were extremely professional in making up my room. However I did notice that some staff at the breakfast restaurant lacked essential english skills which caused some confusions.

I had a very pleasant experience staying at Sofitel Cotonou. The hotel was beautiful and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and professional. Also, food was good. As someone who goes to the gym at least 3 times a week, I found the gym pretty well equipped with what I need for strength training.

Our stay at this 5-star hotel was overall a very satisfying and enjoyable experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt welcoming, and the level of service consistently reflected the high standards expected of a luxury property. My partner and I especially appreciated the wide variety of food and drinks available—there was something for every taste, and the quality was consistently impressive. The activities offered throughout the stay also added to the experience, giving guests plenty of options to relax or stay engaged. One standout aspect was the housekeeping service. The room was cleaned twice daily, which made a noticeable difference in comfort and overall experience. Returning to a refreshed space each time truly elevated the stay and demonstrated strong attention to detail. That said, there are a few areas where the hotel could improve to better align with its pricing and reputation. One key suggestion would be extending access to amenities such as the gym, pool, and sauna to 24/7 availability. Many guests—especially those attending conferences or managing busy schedules—may only have time late at night or early in the morning to enjoy these facilities. Greater flexibility here would significantly enhance the guest experience. Additionally, the breakfast area could benefit from more space or better crowd management. Given the size and popularity of the hotel, it becomes quite difficult for guests to find seating during peak hours. Expanding the dining area or offering staggered dining options could alleviate this issue. We also feel that in-room amenities could be improved. For a hotel at this level, it would be reasonable to expect daily replenishment of complimentary items such as bottled water, canned drinks, and snacks. These small touches go a long way in making guests feel valued. Another improvement would be ensuring direct access from the pool to the beach remains open and easily accessible. This connection is a major appeal of a beachfront property and should be as seamless as possible. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and found many aspects of the hotel to be excellent. With a few thoughtful adjustments—particularly around accessibility, amenities, and guest flow—the experience could become even more aligned with the premium price point and elevate it from great to exceptional.

The rooms were nice and comfortable, however, we were overcharged. I made the booking on the phone a week before my arrival and was given a quote of $2,700 tax inclusive for two rooms. This was also sent by email. Upon arrival at the hotel, I was told to pay $3,400 and the staff at the lobby had no explanation for this. I showed them the email sent, and there was nothing done about this.
