Outstanding Hospitality That Continued Even After Our Stay
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Fairmont Tokyo, especially Mr. Jaehyeok Shim and the Guest Services team, for the exceptional care and support they provided even after we had already checked out.
During our trip to Japan, we purchased a number of meaningful gifts and souvenirs for our family and friends. Before returning to Hong Kong, we sent the parcel through Japan Post. Unfortunately, the shipment was unexpectedly returned to Japan after we had already left the country.
The situation was extremely worrying because we did not know where the parcel would be delivered, whether it could be recovered, or how we could arrange for it to be sent to Hong Kong again.
Fairmont Tokyo’s response immediately gave us peace of mind.
Mr. Shim contacted us to confirm that the parcel had been safely delivered to the hotel and was being securely stored by the team. He also provided photographs of the parcel for our reference, allowing us to confirm its condition and location. This thoughtful and detailed communication was incredibly reassuring.
What impressed me most was that the hotel did not simply notify us that the parcel had arrived and leave the matter for us to resolve on our own.
Although there was no document or notice attached to the package explaining why Japan Post had returned it, Mr. Shim proactively offered to contact Japan Post, investigate the reason for the return, confirm the necessary procedures, and assist us with resending the parcel to Hong Kong once the issue had been clarified.
His communication was warm, professional, detailed, and genuinely considerate. He understood that the parcel contained important gifts from our journey and reassured us that the hotel would do its utmost to support us throughout the process.
At no point did we feel that we were causing an inconvenience, even though this situation occurred after our stay and involved a matter beyond the usual responsibilities of a hotel.
This experience showed us what true luxury hospitality really means.
Beautiful rooms, refined design, excellent facilities, and a prestigious location are undoubtedly important. However, the true standard of a luxury hotel is often revealed when something unexpected happens. It is demonstrated through the willingness to take responsibility, communicate clearly, anticipate a guest’s concerns, and continue offering assistance even after the guest has departed.
Fairmont Tokyo demonstrated all of these qualities.
The team treated our parcel with great care, kept us fully informed, and approached the situation with professionalism, patience, and empathy. Their service did not feel procedural or impersonal. It felt sincere, thoughtful, and genuinely human.
I am particularly grateful to Mr. Jaehyeok Shim for his initiative, attention to detail, and reassuring manner. His assistance transformed a stressful and uncertain situation into one that felt manageable and under control.
Although the matter is still being followed up with Japan Post, the way Mr. Shim and the Guest Services team have handled the situation has already left a lasting impression on us.
We had a very positive impression of Fairmont Tokyo during our stay, but this experience strengthened it even further. The hotel has shown that its commitment to its guests does not end at checkout.

I travel worldwide and held multiple hotel platinum/diamond memberships, I can confidently say that Fairmont Tokyo has the best hotel for value and quality. It is certainly one of the best hotels in the world.
I spent my birthday at Fairmont Tokyo’s GOLD suite, the paramaniac view was stunning to say the least. The view of the Tokyo tower is merely one of its many stunning features; its high floor gave one of the best city view and bay view you can possibly find in Tokyo! You can even see mount Fuji in the distance! My wife and I actually stayed up one night just to watch the city turn down, its definitely the view of a lifetime and I don’t think we would ever forget about this experience.
The room held two latest Dyson hair drier for styling, my wife couldn’t be happier seen them as bringing our own ones overseas is extremely troublesome. We personally use Le Labo products as well, also very pleased to find the full set equipped in this hotel.
I personally travel with a Löwenstein CPAP machine (brought from Australia) and surprisingly this hotel provided both Voltage Step Up Transformer as well as plug converter for exactly my CPAP machine! What a life saver!
Staff were all extremely friendly and tried to go out of their way to help us, we felt like home.
Fairmont Tokyo simply had everything we need, we couldn’t ask for anything better.
Location wise, extremely close to Ginza and everything we wanted to visit. It’s unique location made taxi ride to those places cost potentially not that much higher than the price of public transport, making taxi / alpha rides extremely cheap and cost effective.
Would highly recommend this hotel to my friends and customers, we will certainly be returning again.

Everything in Fairmont Tokyo is top-notch. Room is spacious and well-designed with state-of-the-art facilities (like the shower very much). My room was with a Tokyo Tower view and it was amazing. Staff were all polite and pleasant. I've stayed in many other 5-star hotels in different countries and Fairmont Tokyo is the best so far. My only complaint was that despite my room was on 42nd floor, I could still hear the traffic noise unfortunately.

Overall a pleasant stay. Our tower view room offered stunning view of the Tokyo Tower, together with the surrounding neighborhoods. On a clear day, you could even see Shibuya and part of Shinjuku from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Service was excellent, from front desk team and restaurant staff on the 35th floor, to the bell team on the ground floor, as well as the mobile staff attending to our reservation needs along the hallway. We ran into a small issue on our last night but the front desk staff addressed it professionally and efficiently. We are already looking forward to our next stay at Fairmont Tokyo.

The Fairmont Tokyo was great. We stayed for a few nights at the end of our anniversary trip and are planning on returning. The hotel is conveniently located and has beautiful rooms and views; the staff is also extremely polite and helpful, and spoke great English, which was very helpful as we don't speak any Japanese.
The only thing that stuck out was during check-out, we were notified that someone had charged a set of pajamas from the spa to our room, which we did not charge. We were told bu the front desk that they thought they were friends of ours, however, we were there alone and confirmed there were no others staying with us or under my name. The hotel staff resolved it quickly and we were not charged for the pajamas.

The hotel is beautiful and the service is good. Our biggest issue is that the check in staff checked our 3 year old daughter's passport and warned us that it is against hotel policy for a child under 4 years old to use the pool. I told them our daughter is fully toilet trained and we even brought special swimming diapers for her to wear, just as a precaution. They said they would ask a manager and get back to us. Days later they got back to us and said it's a safety issue, not a sanitary one. This makes no sense, a child's age is unrelated to their swimming ability. Our two older daughters were not able to use the pool because the younger one would be heartbroken if they went without her. Furthermore, while the restaurants look amazing, the hotel was unable to find a time for us to make reservations for the entirety of our 6 night stay there because they were fully booked. I had been in communication prior to the trip with the concierge prior to arrival about other things, but no one mentioned to me that I should make a reservation weeks in advance for the restaurants because they will have very little availability. Overall, I don't think I would recommend this hotel to anyone, nor would I stay there again.

I recently stayed at Fairmont Tokyo from August 17th to 19th for a very important occasion—my birthday celebration.
I must say, the physical aspects of the hotel are flawless. The comfort of the room and the stunning views absolutely live up to the luxurious reputation of the Fairmont brand.
However, what left me confused and somewhat disappointed was the "warmth" and attention to detail in your service.
Take my birthday, for example. While the hotel did provide macarons and sake, the entire delivery felt incredibly robotic and overly standardized, as if the staff were merely checking off an SOP box. This lack of genuine hospitality made me feel as though I was staying at a Novotel or a Grand Mercure. It completely lacked the exclusive, personalized touch I expect from a luxury brand, let alone the renowned Japanese Omotenashi.
Furthermore, the lack of proactiveness from the front-line staff was quite baffling. On several occasions, I returned to the hotel carrying multiple shopping bags, yet the concierge staff merely stood by and watched me walk past. No one stepped forward to offer assistance. For a top-tier luxury hotel, this level of passivity shouldn't be the norm.
It is truly a pity to see such perfect hardware undermined by a lack of refinement in service. This experience has left me questioning the service positioning of this property, and it makes me hesitate to entrust my important celebrations to your hotel in the future. I genuinely hope the management team will look into these details.

I was also concerned to read that on several occasions you returned to the hotel carrying shopping bags without anyone offering to assist. This should have been noticed. You should not have needed to ask for help when our colleagues could clearly see that an offer of assistance would have been welcome.
Your comments about your arrival and check-in also point to something similar. The interaction may have covered what was required, but it did not give you the welcome you expected, particularly knowing that this was a birthday stay.
As an ALL Platinum member, I am sorry that you did not feel properly recognised during your visit. While your welcome drink met your expectations and an upgrade was provided, I understand that recognition is not only about the benefits attached to your membership. How we acknowledge you and the reason for your stay matters just as much.
I have since discussed your feedback with the teams involved. The focus has been quite simple: paying more attention to what is happening around us, approaching a guest when help may be needed, and making our interactions feel natural rather than routine. These are basic parts of hospitality, and we should have done them better during your stay.
I appreciate that you spoke highly of the room, the views and the hotel itself. At the same time, I understand why you feel those things are not enough when the service does not leave the same impression.

Overall, we had a very comfortable stay at the Fairmont. The hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms are exceptional, and ours was extremely comfortable with virtually every amenity we could have wanted. From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was smooth and everything was well taken care of.
We booked through American Express Platinum Fine Hotels + Resorts and received exactly the room category we had reserved. However, there was no room upgrade available and, somewhat disappointingly, there was no acknowledgement of our wedding anniversary despite it being noted for the stay. Neither of these would prevent us from returning, but they did take away somewhat from what otherwise felt like a luxury experience.
The biggest disappointment was the concierge service. Compared with the many hotels we have stayed at for both business and leisure, we found the concierge staff unusually difficult to work with. Interactions sometimes felt argumentative rather than helpful, and we did not feel they provided the level of guidance we would expect from a hotel of this caliber. They arranged two dinner reservations for us, including XEX Morimoto and a sushi omakase restaurant, and considering the extraordinary number of dining options available in Tokyo, we felt both recommendations were underwhelming. We would strongly suggest doing your own restaurant research rather than relying entirely on the concierge.
There were a few other drawbacks. The hotel pool is quite small and was very busy with children and families during our stay, so it was not particularly relaxing. The location is also somewhat removed from many of the areas visitors are likely to spend time in, and there is relatively little immediately surrounding the hotel. Depending on your plans in Tokyo, this can mean a considerable amount of additional travel.
Breakfast was another area that could be improved. We found the selection fairly limited, and communication with some of the staff was challenging. A simple request for runny eggs was difficult to explain, and the eggs ultimately arrived significantly overcooked.
Despite these shortcomings, the quality and comfort of the rooms were excellent and the hotel has a lot going for it. We would stay here again if the price were reasonable, although at a significant premium we would probably explore other luxury hotels in Tokyo with a more convenient location and stronger concierge and dining service.
