We recently stayed at the newly opened Grand Mercure Shiyan Dajia during a visit to nearby Wudang Mountain—and were genuinely impressed. As a new hotel, it's still finding its rhythm, but the warmth and attentiveness of the team made it a standout experience. We were welcomed by General Manager Mr Sang, Front Office Manager Ms Sabrina. Lucy from Reservations, who had arranged everything in advance—from pickup to sightseeing options. Their genuine hospitality continued throughout the stay. The Deluxe Suite was spacious and well-appointed, with two bathrooms, a separate lounge, a desk, and a great bath. Daily water and a welcome fruit platter were included, and to our surprise, some laundry left out was kindly washed and returned with a note—a thoughtful, if not universally preferred, touch. While the Executive Lounge, room service, and spa aren’t operating yet, we had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. The pool area was calm and relaxing—perfect after a long day of travel. As a Platinum Accor member, we felt well looked after. My wife is vegan, and while the kitchen is still adjusting to that concept (as is common in China), the chef personally prepared breakfast daily and created a custom vegan dinner on our first night. The finishings in parts of the hotel feel a little cost-effective, but overall the standard is excellent—certainly worthy of 5 stars. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Shiyan or Wudang Mountain—just 40 minutes away and very accessible via DiDi. A peaceful and pleasant base with standout service.
