In corona times many cheaper hotels in China are not allowing foreigners to check in. This hotel is okay for foreigners. The room was very large. Nice to get a table and chairs as well as a bed. Large window, lots of light, and the window opened enough to get a small breeze in the room. The bed was very confortable. Be aware there is a big outdoor 烧烤/BBQ joint directly opposite that plays music until midnight or later. During the day touts are on the mic trying to sell phones. It is loud all the time. The location is alright. It's a bit awkward because it sits in between two busy roads and you need to cross a bridge to get into the main pedestrian area, but you can still reach everything central within a 10 minute walk or so. Lots of taxis outside if you don't want to walk.
No longer an Ibis Hotel

This hotel changed hands recently and, as result, the quality has obviously plummeted. In fact when we were dropped off by the taxi we argued about the location but he assured us it was correct. We were checked in in a brusque manner at evening time as the dining area was being used for a company Karaoke event. There seemed to be a lot of Eastern European girls, suitably clad, hanging around for the elevators! Don’t stay here!
Very local hotel

Breakfast only Chinese, so nothing for Western. Even front desk staff didn't speak English and they never heard of Accor membership despite being part of the chain. Central location close to shopping and restaurants. Room very basic and nothing special.
Good location, fairly standard rooms, the only downside was the bathroom was a bit rusty.

It was a pleasant stay during my time in Chengdu. The location is absolutely perfect for the first time visitors. Very close to the metro station and the city where all the shops and food restaurants are located. Rooms were decent and good standard. If you are travelling from England, it’s exactly identical to ‘Travellodge’. They have a food hall in the hotel which I didn’t try so I cannot comment on that one. The staff who works there rarely spoke any English so it was a bit difficult when it came to communicating so we had to literally use google translate. Rooms were clean and housekeepers made sure towels and bed were changed and cleaned everyday. The bathroom that I stayed in was a bit rusty. WiFi isn’t the strongest but it does work. I would recommend it highly if you are travelling solo like me and isn’t much fussed about too much luxury. All I needed was a place to sleep in as I was out literally every single day.

This was our first time staying in an Ibis hotel and everything was great. It exceeded our expectations. The hotel is very clean. Check in and out were quick and efficient. Internet works great. And the best part is that the bus to the Panda Base is a 5 minute walk from this hotel. If we are ever back in Chengdu we will be staying at this hotel for sure.
