Noticeable Improvements During Second Stay

Following my initial stay in October 2024, I returned to The Retreat Palm Dubai in April 2025 and had a notably more positive experience. Several of the concerns I raised previously have been visibly addressed, though some weaknesses remain. Reception / Concierge / Staff: 4/5 Check-in was significantly smoother and quicker this time. A particularly welcome improvement was the introduction of a WhatsApp guest service: my request for additional bottled water was fulfilled within five minutes excellent service. Thoughtful gestures such as a slice of cake and a small treat left on the bed added a personal touch. However, as with my previous visit, the 20% discount on dining via Booking.com was not proactively communicated. At the beach, guests still need to actively approach staff to place an order though there is now a button available at the sun umbrellas, which calls staff within minutes. Service was friendly and efficient once engaged. Food & Beverage: 3/5 The food offering remains solid, with a diverse breakfast buffet including healthy options. The quality at the Turkish restaurant was again excellent. However, I was seated near the resident parrot, who appeared stressed by the live music. Concerned it might jump onto me, I chose to leave early. The handling of drinking water continues to be subpar: instead of providing a full bottle, water was only refilled sporadically. Even after specifically requesting a full bottle, I was given one that was only a third full. On another occasion, I had to explicitly ask a waiter for water, as none was otherwise offered. Rooms / Housekeeping: 4/5 Rooms remain comfortable and peaceful with one caveat: guests with street-facing rooms should be aware of ongoing construction noise directly in front of the hotel, which can be quite disruptive from early morning until evening. Housekeeping was more consistent during this stay. However, a birthday cake I had received as a kind gesture was only removed the following day after a complaint. When I encountered a lighting issue in the bathroom, a member of staff promptly contacted maintenance, who resolved the problem within five minutes much appreciated. Hotel Facilities / Entertainment: 5/5 The hotel grounds are still impeccably maintained. Highlights include the fast lift service and the serene, spotless spa area. The Retreat remains an excellent choice for guests seeking tranquillity. The spa offers a wide range of treatments and massages. I booked an oil massage and appreciated the option to share personal preferences in advance my request to avoid oil on the face and scalp was respected without hesitation. However, I was disappointed that the therapist attempted to upsell an additional facial treatment during the massage. Such offers should be made prior to, not during, a relaxation session. Beach / Pool Area: 4/5 The sunbed policy continues to be fairly enforced, with a variety of quiet spaces to relax. A welcome change: the neighbouring hotel no longer hosts loud parties, greatly improving the overall ambience. One ongoing drawback: the designated swimming area in the sea remains small, and the seabed is uncomfortable sharp underfoot, giving the unpleasant impression of being cut. Conclusion My second stay at The Retreat Palm Dubai was notably more enjoyable, with service improvements such as the WhatsApp guest support leaving a strong impression. Minor service and communication issues persist, and those sensitive to noise should definitely request a sea-facing room. Nonetheless, for those in search of peace and relaxation, it remains a very good choice.

Lovely hotel in Palm Dubai

It’s a lovely hotel and more intimate compared to all the other hotels I have seen in Dubai. It is very relaxing with a beautiful view over Marina, the Antlantis and the New Antlantis. Do book a room facing the beach/Marina side so you can enjoy the view and avoid the construction site noises at night. The breakfast buffet and the food in both restaurants are great too as well as the staff which is always extremely helpful and friendly 24h/7 which is very rare nowadays. They have a shuttle bus to the Mall of the Emirates in the morning at 10 am otherwise it is a 25-30 minutes taxi ride. 15 minutes away by taxi from the amazing view point over the « Palm the View ».
