Brought our two kids to enjoy a night away and experience the beautiful Christmas decorations and twinkling lights. Was disappointed as we booked in October and requested early check in/late check out, and upgraded room. Arrived at noon and was told 10 minutes prior to regular check in that our room still wasn't ready so they booked us into another room which looked over the parking lot. When I asked about the late checkout, they didn't even have this on our file which was requested the week before arrival when I called to make this request. We were never told we needed to make a reservation for dinner so when we showed up we were told the only spot available was at 8pm. With two young kids this is not something we can do so this should have been mentioned when we first booked our stay. We also brought our skates and noticed a full on hockey game going on when we walked to the rink which would not allow us to skate. There should be designated times for people to skate openly without a hockey game going on. We enjoyed the pool/hot tub, breakfast and lunch buffet. We also got to enjoy the lobby around the large fire and many Christmas trees and lights which was the whole experience we wanted our children to see and feel. Christmas movies were a great touch and happy we got to enjoy one as a family. We were also disappointed when we didn't get kid robes in our room. This should definitely be added to any room with kids.

The marketing for this Fairmont property ant clear that this is a family resort which is essentially a holiday club, particularly at Christmas time. While the property is unique and interesting it’s not up to the usual Fairmont standards. Here are a few examples: - swimming pool and jacuzzi area is very old, poorly maintained and a huge children’s play area with very little parental or property oversight - the bar in the lobby is good with excellent staff but because whole families set up camp for the day on the sofas there is no where at all to sit and enjoy the fire for couples or those who come after 9am - no staff clear tables or serve the lobby area nor do they ask folks to buy food / drinks so it becomes a family hang out not a place to eat / drink - if you miss breakfast you can’t eat between 11-12 - corridors are very noisy with children running at all hours. No attempt made for quiet hours Overall we felt we stumbled into a holiday camp for the privileged children of Quebec and Ottawa. As a couple we felt we had no space at all to enjoy the place. Staff need to take a harder line on families who are taking advantage. I will add that we have four children of our own and this was a quiet break before Christmas. We love children but we also expect other parents to take accountability for their manners and good behaviour in return.

We love our time at the Montebello during Christmas. It is so beautiful. The activities were wonderful, especially the wreath making and mixology class. One thing that my children noticed from last year to this year was that there wasn’t hot chocolate outside throughout the day. It’s not a big deal at all, but it was missed by the kiddos.

Beautiful stay in a winter wonderland. Family of four stayed in a double double rustic room. It was adequate for our needs but it all looks a bit tired and could do with renovating. Buffet breakfast was excellent. Activities offered were a bit disappointing considering the resort fee and activities desk gave us the wrong advise about how to participate in the curling.
