Well located and spoiled in luxury during our stay at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Ontario. All of the staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Souad, in particular, went above and beyond, and her attentiveness was unbelievable. Our stay in the Prime Minister's Suite made our 31st Anniversary getaway very special.

Went for 1 night for my birthday in hopes to relax from busy family/mom life. That did not happen as the fire alarm went off around 3:30AM I was unable to get back to sleep after going outside, for a false alarm. Nothing was offered for this not even a coffee.

When I returned home, my family asked how my trip was. I told them I was disappointed with my hotel and I probably would not choose to stay at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier again. 5-6 years ago I travelled to Ottawa frequently and the Chateau Laurier was my preferred place to stay. This trip I stayed in Fairmont Gold Room 0493. The bathroom sink is cracked, the desk chair is in very poor condition and the finish on the bedside table is bubbling and is in need of repair. Last month I stayed at the Ritz in Toronto and the food options in their club lounge were much superior. I found the breakfast and mid-day food selection at the club at the Chateau Laurier to be limited. Lastly, the check in process was long because of a conference being held in the hotel. I hope the hotel will consider updating/ repairing their rooms since the hotel is a remarkable building with interesting architecture and history - and it would be great to make it a destination of choice again.

The room was cramped, the desk had no easy access to plug in a computer, the bathroom was small, the shower was impossible to turn on, the bathroom door had wood and paint chipped off, there was a red stain on the carpet in the closet and the Nespresso machine produced cold coffee and the A/C heating did not work.
