Amazing location, and the building feels grand from the moment you step inside. Between Fairmont Gold and Zoe’s, our stay felt almost movie-like. Every staff member we interacted with was kind and welcoming, with a special shoutout to Islam and Angela from Gold, and Nathan from Zoe’s.

Had a great experience at the hotel. Everything from Zoe's bar to housekeeping was absolutely top tier. Perfect location as well. The only issue I have has more to do with the chain than the hotel. I can somewhat understand no points being given for stays booked through a third party provider (in this case Aeroplan), but it would seem to be counterproductive to encouraging further stays not to recognize nights either.

One night stay at Fairmont Chateau Laurier. Four rooms with family. Sub standard on all accounts from parking to check in and out, wifi, and service. Really disappointed.

We recently stayed at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa and had mixed feelings about our experience. There’s no denying the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The historic architecture, grand lobby, and overall atmosphere really do make it feel special. You can feel the history the moment you walk in, and the location in the heart of Ottawa is hard to beat. That said, the experience didn’t fully match the price point or reputation. We understand that with a historic property, room sizes may be smaller — and ours certainly was. We were prepared for “historic charm,” but some aspects felt more worn than charming. In particular, the bathroom wallpaper was peeling, and parts of the walls were visibly in disrepair. For a hotel in this price category, those details stood out and felt inconsistent with the luxury branding and expectations. We also ordered room service, which was genuinely delicious — however, the cost felt excessive even by luxury hotel standards. Combined with the condition of parts of the room, it made the overall value feel out of balance. The Château Laurier is undeniably iconic and beautiful, but at this price point, guests reasonably expect a higher level of upkeep and attention to detail. With some improvements to room maintenance, the experience would better align with its reputation.
