I have stayed at the Laurier, the Empress and other Fairmont hotels on a number of occasions. Cleanliness, location, ambiance all tend to resonate well with me. That said, I thought the ambiance and menu at Zoe's was off. Ended up leaving and going across the street to another location. I had been looking forward to a bite to eat with my son, in what is a recently renovated area. Background music, menu and wait for service were all off. In contrast, in recent trip to The Empress I have found the renovations to the bar and the menu to be on point and a very enjoyable experience. Similarly, I had occasion to eat at Reign in The Royal York a few days after my stay in Ottawa, and the food and service there were excellent

It was our 40th Anniversary! We live in Ottawa and have many family milestones and memories at the Chateau. We booked our room about six weeks in advance and reserved a large room. We arrived early (1 pm) and the room was ready and was beautiful. The staff provided us with Sparkling wine and chocolate covered strawberries. We ate four meals at Zoe's and each was outstanding.

Diego was excellent at check in went above and beyond taking care of us. Excellent welcome and rooms were excellent same as always. Breakfast in the gold lounge wasn’t great. Please use real eggs. The eggs were terrible. Breakfast at Zoe’s was good but I miss the Dutch pancake. Will definitely be back and want to say thank you to everyone who made it another great stay.

It is a fabulous looking hotel – it looks as if it is just out of a fairytale. Its location is 2nd to none in Ottawa. The room was comfortable and quiet which are our main priorities when we are travelling & staying in a hotel.

A longtime bucket list stay, we were really looked forward to a night at the Chateau. While we enjoyed exploring the hotel and seeing the beautiful and historic architecture and design in the common spaces, our room was very run down and dirty. The bathtub was dirty with scum residue and hair; there were empty liquor bottles and used tissues under the nightstands, the mini fridge was empty despite advertising refreshments for purchase, and the pillows had stains. Staff were very kind and welcoming, but the experience was unfortunately a disappointment. It is a substantial amount of money to spend on a highly rated hotel to have the room in the condition that it was.

We found that the room was very small for the cost. The bathroom sink drane is mostly clogged so the water drains super slow. Takes forever to get hot water.

3 of us went into your lobby lounge and ordered 3 martinis. Our server was excellent. We also had him previously on another occasion in the lounge. He took our order; about 5 minutes later, he came back to us and explained that the bartender was unable to make the drink selection that was selected from your menu. It wasn't because the ingredients were not available. The bartender just didn't want to make the drinks we ordered. We found it very unusual. All 3 of us promptly left. I love staying at any Fairmont, especially historic Hotels such as the Château Laurier. Our stay was very comfortable, and all staff were friendly and helpful. One thing you could definitely improve is upgrading your televisions. Your current system for smart TVs does not work and is extremely frustrating. This was the same with our stay at the Fairmont in Montreal.

Booked via Chase Sapphire Reserve Edit collection. Didn't get the room upgrade (after calling ahead that this was my birthday trip 1 week in advance) ; the welcome amenity was not in the room when we checked in. Paid C$60+ taxes for both night for valet, but they couldn't charge my EV after requesting like 5 times. Had to go down and fix it myself. At check-in we were not even told that we had a make a reservation for breakfast at zoe's, kept in waitlist for 30 mins with a hungry toddler. And this wasn't just us, met 10 more groups who were never told about breakfast reservation and were waiting in line with us. Overall great location, poorly managed.
