The property is great - well located, the staff is super friendly and all the amenities are there. Yet somehow nothing stood out! Maybe this is the case for all hotels in Auckland (I cannot be sure as I stayed only here), but comparing to the hotels I stayed at in the South island (St Moritz Queenstown and Peppers Bluewater at Lake Tekapo) that went over and above and also provided some amazing welcome gifts for our honeymoon, SO/ was lacking in some aspect despite being a 5-star. That being said, the breakfast buffet is excellent - gluten free brownies are to die for. There were some flies on the desserts in the dessert section so would advise to avoid any other dessert apart from the brownies as they are placed in a different section. Also, the rooftop bar has mesmerising views of the Auckland Harbour and the good and drinks are great as well.

We stayed in the Atelier Suite, an upgrade with our membership. The room was great and nice view out to the harbour. Kesi looked after us very well and we found the staff pleasant, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our welcome drink at the terrace bar and the exec lounge was nice also. We didn't use the upstairs of the lounge due to a private function which was a shame, but we enjoyed the complimentary refreshments in the downstairs lounge.

First time to the hotel. First impressions weren’t ideal, felt like I was entering a luxury nightclub in the worst way. Dark, glossy reception area was a lot, and not intuitive to navigate. The lifts take some getting used to and the strip lights from ground in the corridors are a bit intense. Even the room decor was a bit too intense for my tastes, patterns and surfaces everywhere, and some of the furnishings were a bit worse for wear or even broken. After a couple of nights, I settled in and looked past things not to my tastes or expectations, and found the beds to be really comfortable and the in room bath to be a real luxury after a long day. All up, after some getting used to the unconventional interiors, I enjoyed the space and may consider returning.
