This was our second time there as it is so convenient. Just a few minutes walk from the train station and close to the utilita arena. The room was spotless with a big comfy bed and a good shower. The breakfast we thought was very good you could have anything from fresh fruit to a fry up and even had a pancake warmer and nice selection of muffins and other bakery stuff. Great value for money and will definitely be booking there again

The good: The hotel was clean. The not so good: Breakfast ranks among one of the worst of my hotel experiences. The choice of cereals was clearly chosen by someone with a sweet tooth, everything contained added sugar. The cooked breakfast was a choice of sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, baked beans. Ok... The sausages were cheap and mostly grey rusk. The egg was clearly made from powder and had a rubbery texture. I didn't risk the beans, as they had dark lumps which looked like where they'd stuck to the sides of the pan and been stirred in. The bacon was ok and breakfast resulted in bacon in a bit of baguette. The room was clean with a reasonable shower, but the view was a sea of industrial rooftops and totally uninspiring. The street on which the hotel is located was somewhat of a back ally, full of litter and felt a bit dodgy, especially at night. The lift has a button missing on the control panel - normally I could have turned a blind eye to it, but it was the alarm button!

Great night's stay

Stayed the night at ibis styles as we were out celebrating our daughters 30th birthday. Check-in was easy and staff friendly. Free hot drinks to take to your but you have tea/coffee and a kettle in your room. Room well equipped and very clean. Good mixture for breakfast. Cooked, fruit, toast, pancakes etc and your usual drinks. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. All 3 rooms were queen size and extremely happy with

Clean, but poor access

The hotel is in a good location and is clean. It has much going for it, but the access is poor if you use the car park. Unfortunately, the lift from the car park to the hotel was out of order for maintenance. That’s understandable. However, the car park is beneath the hotel and the hotel didn’t email in advance to advise dropping off bags at the front door and also for people with mobility issues to get out of the car at the front door. Instead it meant carrying bags up six flights of stairs. This would be impossible for many. There’s signage at reception explaining that people in the car park can ring reception and ask for assistance. Those signs should be in the car park since it’s too late at reception. The hotel has much going for it, but the small, but important point of notifying clients in advance that the car park to the hotel reception requires climbing six flights of stairs is a major omission. It’s easily rectified. If known in advance, I’d have given the hotel four or five stars.

Disappointing let down

Booked the Ibis because it is near the arena. the pictures and the description sounded ok unfortunately expectations were not met. Staff were helpful but the hotel is budget. Room cramped stained bean bag for an armchair. Black mould on exterior of the shower cubicle, damaged paintwork and a loose tap over the sink. Luckily we did not use the car as originally planned as the lift to the car park out of order until early august, hotel has 3 lifts only 1 working not good queuing every time you go out. Regarding the breakfast it is a basic English most items cold and not particularly well presented Positive for the visit was the pub next door
