Ladies afternoon tea

We booked as a group of 18 and made some requests e.g all seated together, dietary requirements (one gluten free, some vegetarian or no egg in anything). All are demands were met and staff were very good in accommadating everything. The food was good , gluten intolerant person said it was best gluten free food they'd had. We used vouchers and price was very reasonable. Place was decorated nicely and the whole experience exceeded our expectations

We booked afternoon tea for my mom's 70th birthday. We had a birthday banner and balloons when we arrived, which was lovely. Afternoon tea was delicious and we were very well taken care of. Mom also had a celebration cheesecake with 70 on and then a small bottle of prosecco as a gift. I would definitely recommend. Thank you again.

One night stay

Was attending a conference so decided to book this hotel. Paid just over £300 for one night for two people. For the experience we feel this was overpriced. The staff on reception and all other staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. The room was disappointing. Although the bathroom looked new, the toilet was separate and very dated. There were two toilet rolls, one of which only had a few sheets of paper left on it. This is horrible. At least give fresh rolls and not ones used by other guests. Also the box of tissues in the bathroom had 2 tissues left in it, again not good. The bed was comfortable and the amenities in the room were ok. Breakfast the next morning was buffet style. The toaster took ages, and the drinks all from a machine. The variety was good,although some of the products were cold. The pastries were nice. There is parking downstairs, but a large flight of stairs to get down there. We were told no lift to get down there so be aware of this. I think they cater obviously mainly for the business traveller.

I normally don't write reviews when I feel I have had a negative experience but I feel too strongly not to comment and may potentially warn of any other guests who are looking to stay here. First impressions were great with a lovely smell as you walk in to the building. The man on reception was also very friendly and my room was ready even though I arrived about an hour before check in. I was on the 6th floor, got the lift (there are 2) and I couldn't see the no 6 button. In the end I went to floor 5 and walked up o the 6th floor. I later discovered the other list does indeed have the 6th floor option button to press. The room itself was spacious with a double bed, a sofa which I believe is a sofa bed a huge window to allow lots of light and a very good sized TV hung on the wall. It seemed great. But then I walked into the bathroom which had a bathtub either an overhead shower. Surprised to see no toilet in there to then find it next door. The room was tiny. I am not a huge person, but even I found it a struggle to get in and out of the toilet with the door opening in on the inside. There was a safe and fridge in the room but I didn't use either. Once it had started to get dark, I found the lighting a bit poor. A couple of lamps were the lights in the main part of the room. One of the bedside lamps didn't work. But the worst thing was just afterr 6pm the electricity went out completely. I went out in the corridor after a few minutes to see the lights were on there but there were other people outside their doors also having the same problem. There were 2 people who were trying to fix the issue. I was due to go out to the evening and therefore had to get ready using only the torch on my phone for some light. When I came back just after 10pm, I went straight to reception to ask if the issue was fixed to be told that it was and 'sorry'. That was it. I didn't pay for a more expensive hotel to have this experience. With the light issue I would have expected some form of apology in the way of maybe a free breakfast or something, but nothing. Almost as it never happened. The location was convenient for my evening but in future, I think I'd have preferred to stay across the road in the Travelodge.

Great Stay

We booked a meeting room and overnight stay in November. The hotel is lovely and the staff were all very helpful. The heating was out on the third floor which meant all of us were a bit chilly in the night - otherwise a great stay and would come again.
