Overall disappointing for a ‘luxury’ stay

Stayed on a spa seekers luxury package which included a premium king size room, dinner and boasted a spa bath - pictures indicated free standing bath etc. packages included soft drinks in mini bar and nespresso machine. We were able to arrange for room service breakfast. In reality the room was small, spa bath was a standard bath with jets. Glass shower screen had been sealed to the bath which meant you had to climb into the bath to work the controls. Bathroom was quite dingy. Mini bar consisted of two x 150ml Pepsi. Nespresso machine had no instructions. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant - food was fantastic. On return to the room we were disturbed at 1030pm by the fire alarm. No staff around to tell us what we needed to do and the alarm just went off. Called down to be told someone’s ‘shower’ set off alarm - no apology so not really impressed. Room service breakfast was a bit of a disaster resulting in calls to reception to get things sorted out. Overall disappointed as this was described as a ‘luxury’ stay. Service from staff was generally poor after we checked in. Lady who checked us in was lovely! I don’t think we would stay again.

We waited less than a minute in the foyer before a member of staff was ready to deal with our booking. The staff member was friendly and professional and, for whatever reason, gave us a complimentary upgrade and breakfast! The room was spacious and nicely furnished - with separate bath and shower. The air conditioning was already set to a nice, ambient temperature and there were a few complimentary items in the fridge. The bed was of decent quality and king-size. In terms of location, it was ideal, as we were attending a function in the nearby golf club, so no taxis required. Upon return from the function, it was nice to find the bar still staffed - we'd attended a Christmas function and all of the attendees were staying at the hotel, so it was nice to be able to carry on the motion after the golf club closed! Breakfast the following morning was well catered and went on until 11:00, which was useful after a late night. Checkout was a generous 12:00 - again, very handy. All in all, an excellent stay for our first trip to Milton Keynes: 10/10.
