Poor verging on awful

ScruffyBadger Business - TripAdvisor review

Truly dreadful. Quite honestly the poorest Ibis I've ever stayed at. The staff were clearly overworked but that manifested itself in a really bad customer experience. One overworked receptionist who was also the barman. He didn't engage in eye contact with the customer at all. Not once. Any communication was surly and grumpy. No pleasantries, no welcome. Awful. There was a ?supervisor present but he seemed to spend his time chatting to his mate at the reception desk amd actively avoided any customer contact. The rooms are incredibly basic which might be ok if this place lived up to its budget label. A badly fitting toilet door that offers no privacy. A weird bunk bed over the main bed. No sockets by the bed. Yet they're currently charging £233/night (TripAdvisor price 21/08/24). There is damp on the walls and the shower opens into the room, it's like they put a bunk bed in a large bathroom. In the bar if an evening there is no attempt to clear glasses and the bar area is almost inaccessible through a sea if unwashed glasses. The overpriced, not included breakfast is paltry and poor quality, served with an inspiring view of the neighbourhood bin, which sums up this hotel perfectly.

We found our room extremely small with very little room to move and no facilities. The room was clean and the staff very helpful.

Disappointing stay. During Edinburgh festival so very busy. We paid almost £200 for a twin room which felt like price gouging for a "budget" hotel. Room was clean but small (as expected). Breakfast/dining area was v busy and insufficient staff on hand to clear tables and replenish crockery etc.

Dear Tim, We appreciate your feedback regarding your recent stay at ibis budget Edinburgh Park. We regret to learn of the challenges you faced during the Edinburgh festival. Rest assured, your comments have been duly noted for our improvement. Warm regards, Rosa, aGM

Bare rooms. No tea or coffee. Certainly not "budget" prices. Breakfast buffet a battleground always with something missing, knifes one day, bowls and spoons the next. Housekeeping variable - great on the first night; hardly noticeable that they'd been on the second. And the one thing this place had going for it (free parking) now isn't. We won't return - it's just awful.

Dear Paddle b., We regret to learn about your disappointing experience at our hotel. We appreciate your feedback regarding the room amenities and breakfast service. Rest assured, we value your comments and will address them with our team. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. Warm regards, Rosa, aGM
