Such a magical experience! The hotel was lovely, the room was beautiful and comfortable and the staff were very accommodating! We were delighted to upgraded to a suite with a stunning view of the ramparts and castle Towers. The pool area was a surprise and a delight. Shuttle service (which is guests first impression of the hotel) gave us directions of how to get to hotel while they drove our suitcases, I was extremely disappointed with this as I was travelling with a 3 year old in a pram and my elderly mother. The narrow steps and steep hills were very difficult for us to walk through. A 5 star hotel should not give guests this first impression. We also witnessed the shuttle service give other quests directions instead of driving them to the door of the hotel.
Upon our arrival at the hotel we told Concierge about this who was extremely apologetic and insisted the shuttle should have brought us to the door in person. Concierge were very helpful with all requests throughout our stay.
Outdoor/Garden bar was lovely as were the staff there.
Breakfast was a little disappointing, as we had to toast our own toasted soldiers from the menu.
There were also problems with the hotel room, we were upgraded to a suite which was a nice thought, but I had deliberately booked a family room to have enough beds to accommodate my 3 year old daughter, myself and older mother. With the upgrade we only had one large bed and a small travel cot much too small for my daughter to fit in. The bed was big enough that the 3 of us slept comfortably in the one bed but still consultation with the room move would have been appreciated. We also found 2 dirty towels behind one of the doors in the suite and the door handle to the suite's kitchen was broken.
As you can see there were a lot of negatives with our stay which you really wouldn't expect from a 5 star hotel, the Concierge and your hotel's location really did save the experience.

The way you arranged the birthday cards in our room was so special and really meant a lot. Our birthday celebration in the restaurant was equally outstanding.

The overall experience was good. Jerome, who drove us from the parking area up to the hotel was fantastic. He’s knowledge of the city was brilliant. The ladies at reception were lovely and very welcoming. Having a drink in the garden was a nice break from the crowds outside. Breakfast was a bit disappointing as it was really only a continental offering although you could order eggs from the menu. You had to pay extra ( on top of what had already been paid) for things like eggs Benedict. For the cost a full breakfast should be provided.
The room was nice but was looking a little worse for wear. The window in the bathroom was rotted through and the paint work was chipped.
We just expected a little better for the price we paid in what should be the best hotel in Carcassonne.
We have no problem with the cost but wish to see value for money. This hotel was lacking.

My first solo holiday and I couldn't have picked a more charming hotel. The room was beautiful with a stunning terrace looking over the lower town. The staff were incredibly helpful and breakfast was just delicious.

Aside from the expensive prices for food and drinks, it is quite relaxing. Hotel has made sure to have plenty of water which was needed for the hot sunny days we were there. Air conditioning was present but could be a bit stronger. Water pressure from the showers was awesome but the bathtub can be a bit larger. We liked the staff who were attentive and friendly but professional. Our luggage was brought up and back to the car without delay and nice to know we have a guaranteed spot to park as long as you have made reservations.
