Had to give it a 5* because of some of the staff and room could not fault and also the service at breakfast from the chef and also staff. So name I would love to say thank you is Steve we meet on the first day so lovely kind and helpful and made us so welcome. Poppy and Tia on the front desk amazing ladies so helpful understanding and also with a autistic 4 year old and also heart problems and hard some times but made us so welcome and helpful with every thing going on as house had a flood and such a lovely room in 2000 as well could not thank them enough. Also Debbie that does the service at breakfast she’s so lovely and takes time with us and our both little one and my little 8 month old loves babbling to her and smiles and a couple of the other girls with her and ladies amazing also the lovely chef we see most mornings and puts him self out to help with any items want to order and cook and his amazing omelets as well so tasty. The only down full and hate to say it was the lady in restaurant made us un easy at night when had a meal because we was on a meal included in booking and not paying was not helpful did not make shore meal was ok and loads of other things but that’s here or there. Lovely hotel with pool and gym on site and helpful staff and all. Could not thank every one enough been nearly about 3 weeks at hotel and would use again. Also the manager of hotel Nina OMG amazing lady cream to hotel and staff and company so helpful and understanding and so lovely could not thank enough means so much thank you lee

I booked a privileged room for a night away for my husband birthday, it’s no different to what a standard room would be just more expensive. Just a few extra bits in the room, which is not worth the additional cost. The shower was dirty and very minimal water coming through, I therefore had to descale the shower myself, you could tell this hasn’t been done for months. The sink the taps were dirty. The spa area is absolutely disgusting, i have been coming to the hotel for many years and the spa area is far worse than ever before, the ceiling is due to collapse, the wood around the spa is rotten, the carpet area the spa is so unhygienic and disgusting and needs to be removed. We had B&D&B. Everyone that was eating in the restaurant was sat in one small area when the whole restaurant was free. It felt that we were all sitting together, could hear other conversations. The menu that is offered is very limited but yet was not able to offer everything from the menu. When the menu is that limited and a weekend everything should be available. Unfortunately, I found the food wasn’t nice at all. Towards the end of our meal the waister then thought it was a good idea to start to clear the area to set up for breakfast. This is not acceptable when you have customers still eating, we felt rushed and decided not to order more drinks. I informed Poppy, the manager on duty of all the issues when checking out, i was informed that my complaint would be passed onto the customer relation manager Nina and I would receive a call. Am still waiting. Mercure, Maidstone is rated a 4 start, at its present state I would give it a 2 star. You Spent money updating reception area how about investing in all the other areas. We will not be returning, which is a shame as we have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years.

We had a nice short stay at the Great Danes. The hotel was clean, staff were friendly. The only negative was the lack of a decent fish or vegetarian option for the evening meal. (For some reason they removed the sea bass option). The Margherita pizza was probably the best we have ever tasted. The spa was nice but very tired looking. All in all, a nice place for a short break.

The room was amazing clean tidy and the bed was so comfortable i would loke to say a massive thank you to house keeping for making my stay so pleasurable inwould also like a lady called sharron who helped us with directions and where to go she was really helpful and a pleasure to speak to she asked how our stay was going and if we needed anybtong else for the rokm she was truly lovely wr have stayed at other hotels and never have we ever been asked if out stay had been on and if we needed anythng else for the room i would highly reccomend this hotel and if u nedd anybting speak to a lady called sharron
