Great location for walking everywhere. Friendly staff, nice lounge. The rooms are a little tired however clean, with lovely views of the Firth of Clyde. My go-to hotel whenever I visit Ayr.

The hotel was fine, but showing its age, somewhat. In all honesty, I was expecting more-up-to-date, given the pricing in a provincial town like Ayr. ROOM... We were "upgraded" from Privilege to Superior rooms, but these latter rooms are mis -named.....the extra floor space is simply devoted to a separate small annex room, with two beds - the room was really just a Family room. Everything else was what you would provide in your Privilege rooms. So, not exactly an upgrade. Fittings are in okay condition, but again showing age. Heating in the room was really not adequate, and I would hate to stay there in winter proper. Set against this, the views to the sea were glorious. OTHER FACILITIES Breakfast was more limited than I would expect from an Accor/ Mercure hotel ... same format, but less choice in each food type, and everything felt a bit "catering-pack". The dining room for breakfast was a bit dark .... very much a ballroom venue. It is good to have an onsite car park (even if charged), but directions signage from road at front was a bit too discreet... WELCOME DRINK Was fine, with a reasonable range, but one sole wine on offer (fairly basic) was really not enough. STAFF Front-of-house staff (reception and breakfast), and bar staff were friendly and willing to help.

We arrived in the time slot we said on the online check in. To be told that doesn’t matter it pointless you still need to do it here. The guest that was staying with me was given a form to sign he asked for help as he cannot read to which he was told he better try harder. Our bathroom had what I can only describe as snot all over the bath to which we had to clean before this was even usable. I travel around and stay in many hotels and have recently activated Amex membership which Accor after this stay we are looking at cancelling all our future bookings we have with mecure hotels. I would not recommend this hotel

rooms were very small and cramped, however the bed was comfy, i did find a few hairs dotted around upon check in (including the bed and bathroom) and there were a few places which had been missed to be cleaned

Overall a pleasant experience - my only minor concern was that the breaded mushrooms that I ordered for dinner were very difficult to eat (i.e. almost too hard to skewer with a fork although I consider myself a strong person) although you could eat just by picking up and using fingers. Very relaxing environment - no problem with noise within the hotel other than outside on a Friday/Saturday night but that is to be expected with pubs open late and obviously not within the hotel's control. It wasn't enough to put me off my sleep. Will be returning for future stays.

I had a nice experience staying in the hotel but only thing I have to complain about was the price. It cost us £781 for 2 family rooms which I thought was very expensive for basically just a bed for 2 nights as there was not even breakfast included in this price.

I booked a Privilege room several months before arrival. I also did the online check in a day or two before. On arrival, I was told the privilege room wasn’t available. I wasn’t happy to spend part of my week in Ayr, staying in a normal room as all others were full. I don’t believe the system ‘had a glitch’. Eventually I was given a superior room, which was fine, but I still spent three days in a room I hadn’t booked and also had the inconvenience of having to pack and move my luggage even though the new room was next door. I’ve stayed numerous times in this hotel and other Accor hotels. I’ve never had this experience before.

We enjoy a short break at this hotel annually. It was enjoyable as always. Our room on fifth floor had comfortable beds with a nice view of the streets and sea. The breakfast offered has so many choices and of a very good standard. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. We will be back again next year.
