Staff were great and let us use the room to change. On our return we found the previous resident used coffee cups were still there and the bathroom had a broken mirror and bath this was a premier room and was £127 a night

Few small things, stay was longer than usual, had to ask for stuff for room which got sorted quickly, think needs decorated, a bit tired,housekeeping good, girl in spa area brilliant,meals ok, had a problem with bill at dinner paying for drinks, seemed to be dearer than night before asked about it staff not happy,but we were right, no apoligies, and breakfast next morning not as nice, put it down to immature little girl, wouldnt stop me going back, was a bit disapointed with situation

Most aspects of the hotel were very pleasant. Enjoyed the swim and spa treatments. However think that the young bar staff could have improved with training .

I requested halal food to which was not accommodated to neither did I have a good vegetarian or pescatarian menu. The room keys kept dysfunctioning and the hall light was not working. There was no adequate housekeeping cleaning facilities and no laundry service. Was not able to book massage and swimming was very short half an hour slots only.

The staff were welcoming and helpful. The food in the restaurant was superb! Best night sleep had in a long time. Hotel is well located so everything is close by. Good facilities. The air purifier smelt like hairspray though. COVID was well adhered too. Highly recommended.

The hotel is well located , the beach is not far and shops and restaurants are all within easy access by foot, parking is also convenient and closeby.

Covid cleanliness was a joke!!

Booked a twin room,on arrival was allocated a double room.Changed to a room with toiletries half used left out for us,tiny toilet roll with no spare one,horrid black marks on floor as you entered bathroom,asked for a member of staff to come to see room.Changed room for third time.This room hadn’t been cleaned either,urine splashed on toilet seat,hair on bowel of seat absolutely disgusting to see.Room hadn’t been hovered or dusted,disgusting mark on carpet next to bin looked like vomit .Asked for member of staff to come up.Was informed no more rooms left,we said as we had a function booked we had no other choice but to stay.Eventually after 1 hr 30mins we went back to 3rd room shown after it had been cleaned.I was appalled at lack of cleanliness especially with covid being rife in this area at the moment.The staff we spoke to were however extremely nice and apologetic to us.We were given 1 free drink,offered dinner however we were having dinner at the function we had booked so they offered to pay taxi there&return journey.Taxi was £5.40 I think however on return journey we had a problem due to being told wrong information.We were given a card to hand to driver that had to be charged to hotel account.The driver phoned his control and we were told off by the controller after she checked it was them that has brought us previously that we should of phoned the Mercure for their reception to book as one rather than the Carlton the hotel we were attending function.We had only done what we were told.This night away had been booked as part of a celebration for my 60th birthday so was supposed to be special not spending time carting luggage about room to room 4 times.I feel very strongly that we should of actually been given a full refund for this particular stay.I also have photos taken on my phone to back up what I’m writing on this review.

Avoidably disasterous

The only hotel in the world where you have to specifically ask for your room to have any form of cleaning.... then don't get it. It seemed impossible to simply get my room cleaned. Eventually towels were provided, but they didn't take the old ones, or empty the trash... or take the used coffee mugs away. Wifi was at best intermittent. No plugs or sockets near the bed for the usual overnight connectivity / charging. Very basic, tired breakfast. Warm rooms, needing the windows to be open, but being on a street-front, the noise was disruptive. In a normal year, I stay 100+ nights a year in hotels, this was a new experience. Some nice staff, but there needs to be some serious motivation to bring this up to the standard that it could be.

Excellent location and Family room ideal for adults with kids. Unfortunately the room was pretty run down with a broken door handle,hole in the bathroom door ,coffee machine not working and not enough towels in the room. Staff were friendly and in particular the night porter was extremely helpful.
