WiFi was spotty and slow. Needed it for work. I know COVID is going on but felt estranged when coming into the lobby by the staff; that we were a nuisance to them. I was in a group of 6. My group all knows and works with each other and we had asked if we could meet in the restaurant (sit separately as required of course) but we were not allowed to. Seems silly

The hotel was in a good location and very central to everywhere we wanted to go. Good view of the sea. However, there was bird poo all over the windows and having read other reviews it is apparent that this is frequently the case and would suggest that the windows are never cleaned. The hotel was very run down and the rooms looked very drab. I paid extra for a privilege sea view room and didn’t exactly feel very privileged. Doors wouldn’t shut properly, paint on the walls was chipped. Glad we were only there for one night.

Staff really friendly. We got a deal which included dinner on 1st night. Good range of choices to dine in. Good value for money. Breakfast was really nice and the staff were always very pleasant and helpful. Overall nice size room, had a good sleep and it was spotless. Hotel adhered to social distancing with one way systems in place for guest safety.

Staff are lovely and helpful....hence the 4 in rating otherwise i would have rated less. Hotel decor extremely dated. Room had an aroma of dusty old rugs. There was black marks on the bedding. Drunken man shouting and banging on doors one night and someone partying next door on another. I didnt complain about the noise though but rooms have thin walls so if you need it quiet to sleep this is not guaranteed. The bathroom wasnt clean water still left in sink. Didnt have dinner in the restraunt but had breakfast one day and it wasnt very good. Sausages where chewy and hard. Left a day early and braved a 5 hour drive home after working 12 hours just so i didnt have to stay another night. This has potential of being a nice hotel if it was seriously updated and brought to the standard of others such as premier inn. Sorry mecure but i wont be back :(

Location is great , when wee arrived for 3 nights stay the window sill was full off water of which wee were moved 2 rooms up . Room was freezing wee had to ask for the raditor to be turned up . The beds where extremly hard not comfortable . Wee asked did u hsve a bag hold for 2 hours when leaving and darren on reception said a straight no u can pay £20 for late check out what for to hold are bags for 2 hours dont think so!! Wee had to ask for toilet roll and milk numerous ammounts of times the paint looked like it was falling off the celing . And the hall lights were off which made the place dark i wouldnt recommend any of my friends or family to your hotel very dissapointed

Durng these difficult times it was nice to get away for one night. Hotel staff were very pleasant particularly the young blonde girl in the restaurant who told us sge was workng split shifts. Didnt get her name but very friendly, helpful & efficient. Room was nice & spacious with a comfortable bed with nice pillow & duvet. Great all round - thankyou. Was a lot quieter than I wouldjld ha ve ecoected

We really enjoyed our overnight at the hotel in Ayr; I'd stay again, particularly if the pool can be re-opened. The only minor problem we had is that the staff at breakfast didn't seem to be properly trained in food allergies and although I explained I was allergic to wheat I got given a sausage that it turned out I couldn't eat (luckily I hadn't had any and I'm not allergic to the point of having to worry about cross contamination). We're banned from drinking alcohol in bars in Scotland at the moment and I would definitely have ordered cocktails from room service if these had been available - it might be worth considering adding these to the menu?

From check in to check out I cannot fault this hotel and the staff. They cannot do enough for you and carry this out very professionally. Everyone is so friendly and make us feel at home. The new safety systems in place ensures your health is of the upmost importance. Excellent food and accommodation. We have visited the hotel many times and will certainly visit again for years to come. I would recommend the Mercure Ayr to anyone.

The hotel was lovely, comfortable bed, clean room, lovely staff. Unfortunately had a bad experience with breakfast as I'd asked ahead of time and at breakfast for vegan breakfast and was given a pile of bacon on my plate, the waitress was apologetic and very nice, she took it away but returned with haggis! I did spoil the stay a bit as I felt sick and left hungry. Everything else was great.

first 2 days breakfast terrible. lady behind buffet throwing food on to the plate terrible attitude, bacon cold sausage brick hard toast thrown on top of food, had to ask for side plates had to ask for butter jam etc. had to ask for more hot water. very very poor. 3rd morning breakfast waitress service fresh cooked breakfast vast improvement
