We stayed at this hotel for a night, and it was a nice hotel with friendly staff. We walked by several staff in the corridors and they all greeted us, which was really nice. The room was very clean, and had everything you need. It even had a fan, which not many hotel offer! (The fan didn't work, but we brought our own, as like I said not many hotels offer fans) We had food at the restaurant for our tea, and the food was nice. However, I had the Katsu Chicken Burger with Chunky Chips, and there were about 8 chips, which wasn't a lot. The burger was nice though. We also paid to have breakfast included, and we were very happy with breakfast. There was so much for guests to choose from. The croissants were delicious and the eggs were delicious. I did ask the server, if I could order poached eggs on toast. And, the server brought the eggs and said I had to get the toast myself. In my opinion if a guest orders poached eggs on toast, then the toast should come with the eggs. Overall, the hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly and the food was nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who hasn't visited the hotel.

Recently stayed for a week here. On the whole it was good location and nice big room. Parts of hotel are dated and in need bit tlc, but nice and clean.. Bar area nice, although drinks a bit overpriced!, food good. Housekeeping excellent. The main issue for us was the pool, We hardly used it due to it being very busy /open to public/seem be lot swimming lessons/kids/noise etc - half the pool had rope across most days. It is small though and not much of an area around it also didnt look like the pictures on website sadly.. The quality of the changing rooms not good either, in definite need of upgrading.. Overall a nice stay but one last concern, sometimes a lot of 'visitors' seemed to be arriving all hours through night for the first few days so bit sleep disturbing to say the least! Staff friendly and helpful though. Overall, would say felt more like a Motel than a hotel though. :/

This was a last minute change as the hotel we had booked turned out to be not as described. This place didn’t have the spa we desired but it certainly had a friendly welcome and Susan on reception is absolutely wonderful and helpful. We had a standard room which was fine. Room was clean and tidy and the hat I’d expect from this price point. A few bits could do with a touch here and there in the room but nothing to stop a second visit. Just attention to detail things. Two things of concern one the plumbing. Very noisy flush and drain away,long time to fill cistern. Shower was either cold or look warm but also not very powerful. Did manage to get it hot once but had to run around in it to get wet. Restaurant now on the day we checked in13/02. Both the bar steward and restaurant hosts were impeccable I state the date as I didn’t get their names but they were through out our stay exceptional. Sadly they were not on duty the evening we chose to eat in the restaurant which is probably why after 40 mins of waiting to have our mains taken away and get further refreshments let alone dessert menu we chose to leave. Menu seems OK though the fish cake starter is not I was expecting. I hoped for a home made fish cake not one from what I consider a suppliers frozen version. They had a brand new menu but looking at the previous offering given the clientele they seem to mostly attract I’d say the old menu is better suited. Breakfast was as expected and served its purpose with a variety of choices for all diets. We found the location useful for city centre. It’s a 40 min walk but it’s served by public transport and taxis for a reasonable fee and if visiting again we would definitely consider booking this hotel. The pool being a plus though we didn’t on this visit manage to get to use it.

rosec561 Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

With a delayed arrival time, due to incorrectly inputting the postcode in the satnav, we arrived to a very warm reception on Thursday afternoon. That warmth, professionalism and love of role and hotel was consistent throughout our stay. Each question was answered fully. Each request was met or an explanation as to why not given. The room was clean and well aired - thank you Leanne we didn’t meet you but know you prepared our room from the welcome card. We dined in the restaurant both evenings it was a varied and appetising menu and the food did not disappoint. We enjoyed breakfast on both mornings again a great variety of tasty food and drinks catering for a diverse range of diet and appetite. We did use the swim and spa facilities, which were very clean and well maintained, leaving us relaxed and chilled. We were not able to access Loungers due to the reduced number, owing to the limited space around the pool, although this would have allowed us to read in this space it was more of an irritation than a spoiler. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the bar again a decent choice and good brands available and excellent customer service. Overall a friendly, well staffed and customer focused hotel, very close to the park and ride for access to Chester and very relaxing for a break from every day life. A few special mentions: Howard - history guru entertained us with fabulous facts. Richard - late night and early morning shifts still very welcoming and accommodating. We hope you enjoyed your family time. Ayo bar and breakfast, confessed he is still learning but that didn’t show. Cameron - dinner service, gifted hospitality worker made us feel very important and provided excellent service Lucy - breakfast service, extremely attentive, natural customer service skills. Carol and the housekeeping team sterling job so clean and sparkly. Thank you Richard and all your team.

The hotel and especially the room is ageing and needs refurbishment. Room cleanliness was not great (webs on the ceiling, nightstand top dirty). Restaurant okay but again cleaning not to standard- the table I was placed on had remains from previous hosts - this was obvious but waiters didnt seem to notice - or to care Shower was faint and water barely hot - probably sufficient for British guests, but not to basic 21st century European standard My room was located at same floor as conference rooms - lunch sandwiches leftovers had been on a table in the corridor when I arrived at 5pm, and still there at 9:30pm
