The hotel is dirty and in desperate need of a upgrade as the facility are old and tired, the staff are poorly managed with not a clue and some of the offers are not advertised correctly as they not fit for purposes. They offer a three course dinner deal but there is no separate menu for the deal and it’s impossible to get the value they offer on the menu to get three course as stated

Very pleased with price through Secret Escapes but on arrival it soon became clear why it was so cheap. Whole hotel was in a sad state. Room was large with a lovely view but furniture and fittings were of a poor standard and not that clean!! Only one lift out of 3 were working causing long waits to use them. Breakfast was pretty basic and when we enquired about marmalade, were told that there wasn't any. Overall standard was poor and I would not stay there again or recommend it in its current state. Staff however were excellent!!!

Filthy. This Hotel is tired and dirty. We arrived en mass for a conference at the Crowne Plaza a cross the road but were staying at the Mercury. 40 people trying to check in. One person on the reception and only 1 lift was working. Yes 1 !! Which isn’t great as I was on the 10th floor. We broke the trip up by having a beer on the second floor. I have in all my days never seen such a dirty and Delphi dated bar. This hotel says that it is a 4 star hotel. My TV was not working. Curtains were ripped and hanging off the runners. The door had a piece missing out of it at the bottom. It basically houses people from the cruise ships across the road, so they just don’t care. The staff were nice and friendly but when we told them about all the issues. They genuinely seemed embarrassed. I had to park in the NCP at the back as the hotel car park was full. Three days £53 !!!! The breakfast was OK but coffee was poor and the Orange juice was watered down. (no joke) Very dissatisfied. You have been warned.
