Room was poor. Very little hanging space. No biscuits in the room to have with coffee. Bathroom tiny and the range of toiletries was poor. Breakfast was a disgrace and range of food even with the pandemic was poor. it was make your own in the bedroom. Pour hot water on a sickly sweet concoction passing itself off as porridg, a stale croissant, no toast - very poor value. Customers should be warned. The meal at night in the bedroom was ok. The soup hadn't been made properly as the soup powder hadn't dissolved properly or the thickening agent hadn't been blended properly. anyway it made for a sticky viscous mess passing itself off a mushroom soup. Not what I expect from a Mercure Hotel.

Very nice hotel with an amazing location. It has everything you need around. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the girls at the reception were smiling and responsive. I will definitely stay there again next time.

In summary, a great stay (Business travel, 4 nights Mon - Fri). The hotel needs a little TLC, but it is clean and organised. COVID response is excellent, well signed and easy to understand. I was woken on my first night by my neighbour who must be an early starter as I could hear their TV for 1 hour in the small hours (3.30 - 4.30am) before they left. I asked reception for ear plugs the next morning, they not only moved my room, but gave me a slightly upgraded room. The upgraded room was welcomed, as my first room had a few issues (main bathroom light dead, phone didn't work and shower tray was slow to drain). Staff were incredibly polite and professional; I've stayed away on business at least 100 nights during my career (in a mix of 3 - 5 star hotels), and I can tell you this is rare! A few minor mistakes like breakfast order not quite correct & no tea/coffee offered, even though initial reception encounter said this would be the case (I'm too polite/british to ask).

Staff on reception were so nice, really helpful.... A credit to the hotel..... But the room did smell of smoke which was not nice.
